GRAUZONE 1980-1982 REMASTERED & MITTAGEISEN

GRAUZONE 1980-1982 REMASTERED & MITTAGEISEN

Postby profil » Wed Nov 17, 2010 6:06 pm

This double cd will be released on December, 1st. Grauzone was a swiss band, their style could be described as electronic new wave - a little bit dark and less pop oriented. This compilation includes everything this band has ever released (+ 3 unreleased tracks), with the exception of one track ("Schlachtet") which wasn't included by request of the artist.

Great band especially for the darker days to come at least here in Germany [:)]

Here is the official statement:

We're pleased to announce the new 2CD 'GRAUZONE 1980-1982 REMASTERED'.
• GRAUZONE belonged between 1980 and 1982 to the pioneers of the German new wave (NDW). With their song ,EISBAER‘ (Polar Bear) they met the attitude to life of that time and reached the Austrian and German charts.
• The new 2CD-set ‚GRAUZONE 1980-1982 REMASTERED‘ contains 21 digital remastered songs. 6 of them so far unreleased on CD incl. (‚TANZBÄR‘, ‚POLAR BEAR‘, ‚PLASTIKHERZ‘) previously unpublished tracks. Besides, contrary to past CD publications, all songs are in original full length!
• The two CDs are available in a 3 fold-out digipak-sleeve, incl. a carefully made 24-page booklet with exclusive band-fotos and informations about each song.
• The 2CD is available from December 2010 at well assorted Online-Shops

Fantastic news just in time for Xmas! Their back catalogue has been out of print for some time so it's great we can get everything in one package.

For those interested in electronic music, dark wave, minimal synth, etc Grauzone are a revelation.

There is another great swiss new wave band which I recommend to all those who like this dark and moody electronic sound of the early 80's:
Mittageisen (named after the Siouxsie b-side song).

There is also a double cd "Mittageisen 1981 - 1986 Remastered" which covers almost their complete output. Fantastic stuff!

Cool, probably get them both....will they be available in the states? And, if so, how much?

Both cds - Grauzone and Mittageisen - are releases from an independent label called "mital-U". They describe themselves as "a small global indie-label". But there is a list of retailers who sell their cds (see link) which includes also an US online shop called CD Baby and also some European shops who also ship to the states.

Here in Germany it's cold and frosty at the moment which is exactly the perfect mood for the music of both these bands. I like both releases very much - soundwise and also the booklet and the packaging. Only for completists: on both releases there's one song missing which was commercially available before.
