VISAGE - New compilation CD

<br>Ok I just got the CD now. The booklet is alright, two pages of info ("the story") plus some photos. As usual my fingers leave an eternal mark on the black booklet, I hate that. And no I don't have greasy or sweaty hands, just normal. The BBC version of The Anvil sounded a lot like to album version to me, but then again I only listened to it once and there are so many "original" versions of it that I get lost comparing it. The BBC version of Can You Hear Me is not too different but at least I don't have to listen to that dreadful saxophone (who came up with the idea to mix synthesizer Music with saxophone???). So, just this track alone is worth the price of the CD if you ask me. A strange thing is that there are no dates at all for the BBC versions in the booklet, not even the year. It just says BBC (c) 2008 (!) /JW

I was surprised to learn that "The Anvil" was named after the (in)famous bondage club in NYC (now closed, not that I have personal knowledge of such[:D])

Sugoi !!!

The BBC versions are:

The Anvil (BBC 1982)
Can You Hear Me (BBC 1983)

As discoginfo mentioned, I really can't hear a difference with The Anvil BBC Version vs. the album version. There are quite a few 12" extended versions on here. Interesting is the track selection, leaving out songs like Visage and Love Glove, not that I need them again or anything. Interesting they put in some non-popular stuf like Moon Over Moscow, Beat Boy, Malpaso Man, and eve Frequency 7 (Dance Mix).

What I do like though about this cd is the artwork and the audio. This is one of those cd's that all of you who complain the sound hurts your ears will love. The remastering gives the songs some nice lower ends bass sounds and minimizes on the ear piercing highs without taking away the clarity. I don't have the right audiophile lingo [:I] but I think you guys know what I mean. I just wish more cd's had this kind of audio.

So if you ask me this is worth dishing out a few bucks for, the answer is a definite "YES".

One note, The Damned Don't Cry on here sounds slightly different to me
than other versions but maybe I am just imagining it. Probably just getting old.

Where do you find the dates/year for the BBC versions? They are not in the booklet (coyright says 2008!).

Thanks everyone for heads up. I have heard of the 'A kick up the 80's' series of course but couldn't find any in my almost endless 80's CD compilations so i purchased volumes 1-9 all at reasonable prices from Amazon (apart from volume 2 which was cheapest on eBay)! Any other 'gems' on them anyone know of?

When you load the cd in to convert it to mp3, it gives you the year. Whether or not it's accurate, I don't know for sure.

Sorry, this is still too loud. I have 10 levels on my amp. Brickwalled CDs can't go above 2, but this cant go above 3. It's cheap and OK, but no masterpiece of mastering.
