Japan- Original LP vs. cd issues- compare sonicities

Japan- Original LP vs. cd issues- compare sonicities

Postby schwenko » Wed Sep 30, 2015 3:15 pm

Paul Rymer, webmaster of the excellent Japan website Nightporter, and Facebook Japan group is requesting help with respect to comparing the sonic qualities of the vinyl vs. cd releases

"Help needed - have a look at the image below showing waveforms of "Quiet Life", the top is from the Japanese Victor 1986 CD, same mastering as the "Prophetique" box set - this looks the same as the UK vinyl LP as well. But if you look at the second waveform, taken from the German CD (same mastering used for the US Caroline CD) you can see that some elements of the track are opposite. In particular Steve's drum hit as the song kicks off. It's really odd. How would you describe this? The waveform isn't totally inverted.."

Anyone care to comment/help him out?

I'm talking to you Rubellan!! :D

Steve Jansen should be contacted thru Facebook . He answers a lot of questions , and might have the best answers . I've asked some questions in the past and have usually gotten a reply .
