Vicious Pink - Expanded Edition (18 June)

It's going to be so nice to finally own a Vicious Pink CD! Looking forward to it muchly. I actually have a 3" CD single of 8:15 To Nowhere/The Spaceship Is Over There, which is a bit shit really as both tracks are instrumental.

Mind you there are Tony Mansfield fans here who just LOVE his productions! Vocals or not....

Time to order! It's out on Monday, but will most likely be shipped today.

I ordered from play.com, it was cheapest there (10.99 Euro incl postage), but maybe someone else found it cheaper elsewhere?

Got mine today from my HMV.com pre-order! It's pretty good. Sound is fine, booklet has decent liner notes and pics. So nice to have this finally!

Cherry Pop did this compilation justice!
I figured I would scrutinize this release since Cherry Pop / Cherry Red releases...well you already know the rest.

If you look for faults you may find:
Track 3 [The Spaceship Is Over There] - Pops at 00:16, 00:18, 2.05 & 2.09
Track 11 [CCCan't You See (Re-mixxx)] - Light static from 00:04 - 00:06
Track 16 [I Confess] - Pop/glitch/? on the beat between 00:20 & 00:21

The reality:
Track 3 [The Spaceship Is Over There] - The exact same pops exist on my original VP cassette from 1986, not the fault of CP/CR
Track 11 [CCCan't You See (Re-mixxx)] - I don't own a different pressing of this so I can't confirm if the very light static existed before this release. It's almost unnoticeable but I was trying to find any problems.
Track 16 [I Confess] - Whatever the glitch actually is it doesn't exist on my 12" vinyl. This seems to be the only real issue I can find with this re-issue.

Overall I think the CD is fantastic. IMO, the sound is excellent. It's punched up without sounding like it went through a hip hop, digital filter. Much of the warmth you get from vinyl is present here as well.

Mine is not even shipped yet (play.com) as it's not "in stock" for some reason. Disappointing.

About clicks and pops, if they are short (like micro seconds) it's relatively easy to remove them using a sound editing program. Even I can do that. BEFORE releasing the CD I mean. Not sure why that wasn't done. If the noise is complex, like lasting for a second or more it can be impossible to remove it without also removing the rest of the music during that same space.

Anyway looking forward to the CD - whenever it will arrive.

Your point is valid. I've removed pops from vinyl transfers as well.
I guess I was surprised by the fact that back in 1986 Capitol Records was so careless. Of course, until yesterday I had never even noticed the pops myself.
I hope play.com gets their problem sorted and you have your CD soon.
