OMD "Junk Culture" deluxe reissue on the way

Thanks Gary. I added it. I saw a note about it on discogs.com, but there were no indications or info on the scan to indicate that. Which is strange, since a unique version would have been a Selling Point at the time. Also on 45cat there are no Scans. But I trust you and the person who wrote the notes on discogs.com. Also there are no durations written on any of the 7" singles, in UK or Germany, and/or no Scans available. I don't have the vinyl so I can't clock it.

PS while I was at it, I also did lists for chronologically suitable bonus tracks for their albums 1980-1983... yes I know there are alreday CDs with bonus tracks, but if you ask me, several tracks are missing and several should be moved to some other album.

According to Amazon UK, the album reissue is coming January 26th already.

I too hope they'll continue with "Crush", "The Pacific Age" and "Sugar Tax" seminal reissues as well. I can take or leave "Liberator" and "Universal", though.

I'd definitely love to see those three reissued as well, especially Sugar Tax (my second fave OMD album after English Electric). Not too worried about Liberator, as I never really got into that one, but Universal would be fantastic (I suppose this one would be just an expanded single-disc because of the smaller amount of bonus material). Pretty sure Sugar Tax and Liberator could easily have a second CD filled, which would help because I don't own any of the CD singles from those albums.

Just as well Julia's Song is on one of the ZTT compilations. I'm not fussed about 7 inch mixes or live tracks but then again they could have filled up the first disc as there is plenty of space left on it and i wonder if they will fix the spelling mistake on the cover before it's released

I didn't really put a lot of emotions behind my list, it's just good to know what tracks are missing.
Yes they could have filled the discs. e.g. B-sides etc on CD 1, and single versions, 12" versions etc on CD 2.
But I guess the OMD staff didn't like any of those seven tracks. Or felt they would have felt repetitive.
And while single versions is often found elsewhere, still what we are buying is a deluxe package,
and deluxe is... well deluxe, is it not? Many people do have special memories connected to single versions,
and omitting them now in 2014/2015 may be interpreted as unfair. /JW

I'm hoping Crush, The Pacific Age and Sugar Tax get the same treatment more so Sugar Tax as it badly needs remastered as the original sounds like shit.

Another reissue/deluxe that skips U.S. remixes...
'Junk Culture' isn't a good enough album on its own to justify excluding any extra tracks.
Oh well, someone else can pay their bills this time.

That's is often (but certainly not always by any means) because, especially in the 80s and early 90s, US remixes of a British band would be done "locally" and so were out of worldwide licence agreements. So whilst they were 100% official mixes, they were done with little or no involvement from the UK bands or their original label/management and the remix agreements of the time only included "domestic" (ie US) sales. So they will often have to be renegoiated/paid for to put them on a worldwide CD reissue like this one. The original UK remixes would have had world rights granted at the time, whereas American mixers only signed away rights, short term, for North America.

I understand the reason why it may take a little more effort to include the US tracks...I just don't think that it's a very good excuse.
It's almost 2015. We have a global market that allows for easy international releases/sales. Get it together already!
I know...greedy record companies, international rights concerns, paperwork, effort...it's ridiculous.
The only option I have is to vote with my wallet. Don't include what I want - I don't make a purchase.
