New Order Remasters

no live crap for me thanks. the only time they sounded good was the computer stuff. when they tried to actually play instruments it was like seeing a bad covers band at your local dive.

there were always "hit or miss" live ... & when it wasn't "hit" it was indeed really bad ! *sigh*

anyway ... they also had some great live moments , but doing the very same with the new remasters & jus' adding a live album as a bonus disc like it was done for the joy division stuff jus' recently is indeed pretty pointless & disappointing also imho !

I was up front for a show from the Technique tour in '89 and have to say it was one of my favorite shows...I must've seen them when they were "on"!

Totally agree about the bonus discs though...I wish they would've followed the Pet Shop Boys lead for their two-disc sets from several years ago.

Sorry, side topic here, but did anyone buy that recent New Order 2xDVD that has some live shit from past shows? (like from 1981 -> present). I'm wondering if I should pick it up.

Live shows? That is indeed a colossal waste of a second disc. Pfft count me out. I'm happy with my old CD issues. B-Sides and remixes that didn't sound like a bloody chainsaw next to my ear? I'm in.

this was recently posted on a New Order forum:

"I only noticed last night how many b-sides there are that have appeared on singles over the years that I hadn't heard of before. I sent Hooky a message through myspace and he confirmed the likes of MTO, Sabotage, Don't Do It, Dub Vulture, etc, would all appear on the remasters. Can't wait!"

Seems they are a bunch of unhappy bunnys over at the neworder forum and i can see their point in some aspects regarding these tracklistings. Where's Shellcock, Kiss Of Death ,Dubvulture or Bizarre Dub Triangle all of which were missing from the cd of substance.Let's just hope it's the full 12 inch mixes that are on them and not the edits like they did with Shellshock and the Perfect Kiss on the substance cd.

Yeah, even if each track were eight minutes long, there's still lots of space on the CDs.

Movement and PCL should be able to fit the rest of the 12" tracks on CD2. Low-Life can fit two or three more.

On the bright side, it's not a bunch of live tracks. Live tracks = I torrent these releases.

Yes i'm delighted there are no live tracks. Just looking at the second cd of PC&L everthing on it is on substance also i'm sure Blue Monday and The Beach were on the american version of PC&L. Suppose it will be nice to have Run 2 on cd finally though personally i think the mix is crap. Let's just hope they don't start asking silly prices for these like the recent U2 remasters.

Surely they can find room for both Mesh and Cries & Whispers? [:(!]

- True Faith *
* which version of True Faith?[/quote]

certainly the 12" ( a.k.a. extended ) version of it !? [;)]

however ... i like the tracklistings for the 2nd cds & i'm not such a completist that i really need all those - mostly pretty unimportant & boring - dub mixes & remixes on cd as well , as i still have them all on good ol' vinyl , if i want to listen to them again ! [;)]

anyway ... the only song that i miss on it is "cries & whispers" , but apart from that minor exclusion i think it's a really good collection all around ! [8D]

p. s. : i also suppose that we'll sooner or later see a "new order remixed" compilation-double-album with all the missing remixes & stuff on it ! [:D]

Was this intended as a joke? There were two 12"es of True Faith, both which featured different versions.

I agree to a point. When there's space on the disc, I think they should include some of the missing tracks.

Okay, list updated to show tracks that have been previously released on CD (most are on UK releases, but a couple are exclusive to US and CA singles).
