New Order Re-re-issues

> Hang on - to be fair surely what they're saying is that only the bonus discs have been corrected (ie Disc 2) except for Technique, where Disc 1 has been corrected as well. That's how it reads to me.

Yep, that's what it says in the previously posted email.

If it's matrix numbers that are required, have fun :-D. Better get laser eye surgery lined up for afterwards because reading those tiny numbers on a reflective disc isn't exactly good for your eyes.

I'm really confused by this continuing thread. So, are there import and domestic versions? is it the import versions that won't be available in corrected format until August 2009 or the domestic? Does this mean if you order these from amazon now you'll still get the defective versions,or have the discs been fixed already?

Boy you arent kidding there! I think I still see little numbers every time I close my eyes. What a bad bad thing to ask for, that was just horrible.

The New Order nightmare continues... so I went to the Rhino site and "pre-ordered" all 5 - each with a street date of 25 aug. for the "corrected" versions, figuring this way i could forego all of the possible problems of amazon or anyone else getting old "incorrect" stock or continuing to sell off old stock on hand first. seems logical, right? the next day i get an email from rhino saying they shipped all but movement and brotherhood (nothing's shown up yet), so the alarm in my head says rhino immediately and ask in an email if they sent the new "corrected" copies or the defective ones from last year. the response came today... we've sent the 3 we said we did, and the other 2 are on backorder. completely ignored the question. so i call during business hours and get a recording saying no one's there and to leave a message. so i leave a message and sent a 2nd email asking again whether it's the old or new copies. we'll see what they say. i've a bad feeling about this though. did they hire the p.r. company that exxon used for the valdez 20 years ago or what? a simple yes or no would suffice!

I gave up on this debarcle a while ago. They won't be getting a penny out of me unless i see them going cheap and with big sticker on the front saying fixed version. I honestly can't think of a bigger cock up than this mess and they must truly be embarrassed about this. I will stick with my original versions and Substance at least they aren't over compressed and full of vinyl rips.

Ah but it only gets better! Here's Rhino's crap response this morning:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your order
recently placed with Rhino.

In response to your inquiry, please be advised that in checking our
system it indicates the CD's that you have order were actually released
11/11/08, they were on backorder order and being 3 of them became
available we sent them out to you.

Please note, that once you receive these CD's and they are not want you
expected please contact us for a return authorization number which
will allow you to return these CD for credit.

Please let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you.

That's ridiculous. Looks like Rhino doesn't even know the existence of any problems to begin with.

I will not be touching these with a 10-foot pole [:(!]

I actually ordered just Low-Life a few weeks ago because it has the full 12" of Perfect Kiss, which is edited on Substance, and there are none of the flaws outlined in the amazon review on the product page, so there are 'fixed' copies out there.

Please post CD matrix numbers.

If you have a scanner, it would probably be the best way (high res scan + zoom in = save your eyes).

i told rhino (no reply yet) to give me a return authorization # for the 3 they've shipped and to cancel the other 2. this is the most idiotic and frustrating thing i think i've experienced! i'm with those of you who have decided to skip these altogether until rhino gets their act together - here i was thinking by going straight to the source i could the get "good" goods - so much for that - screw this, i'm done with it!

I feel you guys...I really do. Im in the same boat. I traded in my original copies, once i bought(what I thought @ the time were good versions) these. Now, I could be stuck like Chuck. This pisses me opff that Rhino has turned up their noses on the whole fiasco.

HOPEFULLY< they will send me the corrected versions soon, I can trade off the others, and be done with it, once and for all.

Im surprised they havent asked any of us to return the initial run of these to them as "proof"? Good grief Charlie Brown!

By the way, I sent them an email, asking when the "corrected versions" will be sent? they said none are available until 8/25, then they'll be shipped. I think no one is on the same page @ Rhino.

They must not like us very much @ Rhino? lol.

I'm confused by comments on Amazon and other sites - can anyone answer this simply?

Which version(s) of Temptation are on the Movement bonus disc?

Original 7" mix?
Original 12" mix?
Re-recorded Substance version?

thanks

Great News - we just received what was supposed to be the corrected versions of the domestic New Order 2CD reissues - and they are the corrected versions!! There is a way to tell the difference!

The potential problem with the original version is that they have the same UPC code as the revised versions and could potentially be mixed into circulation with the revised versions.

However, the first batch of all 5 titles that we received DO NOT have the clear plastic O-Card that says Collectors Edition as was the case with the original issue. It's just the digipack. There is a UPC code sticker on the back under the shrink wrap. There is a sticker on the front over the shrink wrap.

If you want a revised version you should definitely buy it in person in a shop using the above guidelines or online with us at www.idealcopy.com as we are actual human beings who know the score and not robotos that only read UPC codes. [:p]

I will definitely be buying a set from The Ideal Copy just as soon as the morons at rhino.com credit my card for the defective set they sent me (they had them on their site as pre-orders with the 8.25 street, but they sent me a set of the crap copies 2 weeks ago). can only imagine how long it will take for them to credit my account. you'd think buying from the manufacturer would be a safe bet, but no. I should have waited for you guys to give it the green light - you guys always get it right!
