Re-Flex "re"issues coming

Postby rewind » Wed Sep 29, 2010 5:03 am

I asked this earlier but got no reply, so maybe you can clarify, Jennifer:

Why was the 12" (Longest Version) of "How Much Longer" left off? With all the time and effort taken to dig up previously unheard material, how do they omit something that actually had an official release?

Anyone have scans of the artwork for the albums? I can't copy them from their site.

I couldn't agree more - anyone with just a casual interest in the band won't bother fannying around trying to find anything. I've given up twice myself. It's like a website from 1999, I'm sure it was great fun for whoever put it together but if the point is to sell (in all senses) Re-Flex it's atrocious.

Hey, all... I've been away from the forum for a few days, but I've not forgotten anyone's questions and I've been working on getting answers -- it just sometimes takes a little while....
DJ, I just wanted to add to and confirm the answer I gave you previously. As I mentioned, I've personally never had to pay duties or import tax for anything I've purchased from the UK (or anywhere else in Europe, so far), but I wanted to verify that this was the case for everyone in the US -- which it evidently is. Here, also, is Paul's word on the matter: "Tax is only added to territories where it's applicable, therefore UK and EU, and so does not affect purchases in the US and other countries. There is no other customs duty for the items we sell and so orders should not be subject to any further tax."

I hope that answers your question. [:)]

Hi, rewind... this question has been raised by a few others, as well. Here is Paul's response:

"How Much Longer 12-inch and the other mixes created for Humanication were not included in any of the releases on purpose but at some point we intend to make them available through the site."

I realise that's sort of a short answer, but I expect there will be further details forthcoming, so I'll post about it again when I know more.

<br>got mine today, and what I find interesting is that all the tracks on the disc of 12" mixes and b-sides are DIFFERENT than what I have on vinyl!!! None of the remixes are the same mixes or lengths, and all the b-sides are different lengths than on the vinyl 12" singles (some are longer, some are shorter).
I know this wasn't technically a question, but, again, it's been brought up by others, so I thought you all might be interested in Paul's comments on the subject:

"Music Re-Action tidied up the remaining material that relates to EMI and so this is why it's only available to buy with Politics. Apart from the 12-inch of 'Politics', Baxter and I felt we wanted to do something else with the extended mixes. If people really want just the original 12-inch versions then we might consider making them available too but I think the new ones are a lot better and more fun, without getting into a full remix. It's sort of explained by the sleeve notes but as you will see from my comments added to the Cube under 'How long does it take to make a record', 2010 has turned out to be a pretty good year for Re-Flex releases."

By the way, here's a little trivia question for those of you who have the Music Re-Action disc: Which of the 12" mixes was not *originally* available as a 12"?

Please keep the questions and the feedback coming, and...

"Keep in Touch" [:)]

So I can have the proper artwork in iTunes and on my iPod. Since these releases aren't available digitally, there's no artwork available from Gracenote, and since they're not sold on sites like Amazon, there's no jpegs for me to copy and paste into iTunes. The images on the Re-Flex site are Flash files and can't be copied. And I don't have a high-quality scanner with which to do it myself.

True, and that's a good point. I will pass along your question and see just how they want to handle that and let you know as soon as I can.

Surly, I just took quick screen caps of the individual album listings for mine. It was a hack but worked quickly.

I see. So all these "12" mixes" were done in 2010? That's good to know for people who are looking for the originals.

Surly:

OK, I spoke with one of the guys yesterday and asked about this, and the *official* answer is that since the songs are not currently being made available as downloads (e.g. iTunes, Amazon) neither will images of the artwork be, at least for the time being (due to copyrights and licensing issues, etc.). However, that may change sometime in the future. I know that's not much help in your case, but at least you have an answer.... [:)]

No problem; I'll try mojowkn's suggestion.

If they ever do release these digitally, I hope they fill in the gaps of missing stuff. The 2 things that I would have loved on these remasters are the single mixes of "Politics..." and "Hurt." The former is on various compilations, but the latter has never been on CD and it's so much better than the album version.

Is there not a way The Politics Of Dancing album can be sold separately instead of people having to fork out £20 for a disc full of remixes which aren't even the original ones.[?]

I have to stick my nose into this post of discussion and say that the price is outrageous, not to mention it too how long to finally get this box set released? Oh, and the mixes are redone? What...
