anybody get them yet? They are out today in the US. I've been waiting for these for AGES!!!! Some of my favorite Cure music. Especially "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me." They are all on iTunes (except apparently for The Glove).

I'm playing tracks from them all week on my net radio, for anyone who is interested.

I got home with them a couple of hours ago. As with the previous Cure remasters, the packaging and liner notes are excellent. I was IMMEDIATELY concerned when I saw this batch of remasters, along with The Glove remaster, have been done by Gary Moore. This is the guy who's been screwing up the Banshees remastering since 2002, and hasn't been involved with any of the previous Cure remasters.

I scanned all of the CD's to get a basic idea of the quality of each disc. Everything sounded pretty good, so I decided to start listening (with high quality headphones, as I do with most of my CD's) to The Top CD. Everything sounded surprisingly good. No inappropriate fades, no channel fluctions. Everything was very satisfying...THEN, the song 'Bananafishbones' started, and I immediately noticed it sounded considerably faster. I pulled out my original CD to make sure I wasn't having some sort of seizure. The original CD sounded fine, so I checked the time on the song. The original CD clocks in at 3:10, the new CD clocks in at 3:00. To cut 10 full seconds out of a song, the tape had to be speeded up considerably. How frustrating! Now the album heads towards the end with a guest appearance by a slightly barritone appearance from The Chipmunks.

The speed returns to normal for the final song on the CD, which makes me wonder if it was more Gary Moore hack work, or if Robert Smith decided to tinker with the song during mastering.

This is the only CD I have listened to so far. I will say the bonus disc for The Glove CD sounds really interesting from the bits I've heard.

Interesting.. I listened to The Top in the car on my drive home today, and I did notice that Bananafishbones sounded really different, but I couldn't put my finger on why. I will definitely compare the two. I can only guess that Robert wanted to make the change; i would imagine that such a substantive change wouldn't have been done without his prompting.

There is no extended version, but they did include the 7" remix. It's not dramatically different, just a little tweak here and there... I've got the original album playing right now. It sounds really good, though they put the track change codes at the beginning of some of those instrumental bits between songs, rather than having them as part of the previous track.

as far as I'm concerned, the most interesting material is The Glove demos... hearing all of those songs w/ Robert's vocals is amazing.

I always thought Bananafishbones sped up and slowed down throughout the course of the song simply on a twisted tempo. If you ever tried to play that one on drums, it was very noticeable.... It always had that bizzare quaky feeling to it, even on vinyl. I'd bet it was intentional. Robert wanted that album to be extremely psychedelic in nature... perhaps this was his way of making it more trippy. Who knows.

I just got promos today of "Kiss Me..." and The Glove, but it'll be a few days before I can get to them. Looking forward to them, though.

That's funny because I also noticed it sounded funny. Other than that, I have no complaints. I listened to all 3 over the last few days and they all sound great. Haven't listened to the rarities and demos discs yet. I also have to pick up the Glove this weekend.

Finally received the lot (including The Glove) yesterday, and although I've only opened and played The Top so far, I am once again very impressed!
Everything about The Cure remasters go beyond my expectations... from the remastering itself (the only way it could get any better would be a DVD-A release), to the packaging (always interesting commentary, rare photos and beautifully laid out) and the bonus disc of rarities. Who could ask for more?
