Flexipop comps

From what I understand there is a huge series of cd-r comps with "flexipop" in thier titles; ie "Tribute To Flexipop", "Night Of Flexipop" etc. Supposedly these aren't for sale anywhere, they are only obtainable via P2P and torrents.

I was able to get a few volumes of "Return Of Flexipop", and a few of "Non Night Of Flexipop".

My question is 2-fold: Does anyone have any others? and Does anyone know of a discography/listing of this series?

Ollie, I have seen several on P2P sites but never really paid attention, I will keep my eyes out for you though and hopefully someone will have more info!

for tracklists go to either...
http://members.shaw.ca/ecorpse/Tribute% ... exipop.htm

or simply german mailorder indietective. www.indietective.de where it says 'schnellsuche' type in flexipop or new wave complex + and it will list the ones - while clicking on the number for each item, you'll get the tracklists.

normally it is also possible via http://www.hoersturz.com/Flexipop.html but that page seems to be down at the moment.

Good assessment...and poor quality overall. Some of the songs sound as though the source material was a shitty mp3.

I guess I best explain myself...
The compilations were compiled by the early p2p'ers from Audiogalaxy and Early free-share Napster... 7-8 years ago.. The early few trying to put all our rare 7" and favorite obscure new wave artists on one compilation..based from old tape trading days. First it was individual effort and then it was full collective effort because of the compounded interest from others who wanted to submit to the compilations. Like I said these were friends in the community just like this. I organized the original compilation Tribute to Some Bizarre series, but It was devised as a community effort all I did was provide the spark. It was meant to be that way from day one. look at the first compilation. But we revived the Flexipops (mysteriously there was NWC) and then there were the offshoots. But the spirit remains the same... Yes most of the artists were minimalists but with the penchant for POP. I removed myself (somewhat) from involvement because the compilation just overly exploded and was unable to spend too much time with the project since the birth of twin girls and mainly from lack of interest. I do always get the respect of choosing or final electing the compiler of the next compilation and I will submit a track or 2 now and then. Go to Soulseek group Guerre Froide for more info ....

Well that makes much more sense than mmmmmm huh huh mmmmmhuh huh [:D]
Dont get me wrong--I'm not putting down the comps, because you can find some cool stuff, and I certainly appreciate the effort that whatever folks put into it-its just that the amount of tunes from them that I like vs what I dont like is on the smaller side. That being said, there ARE some great tunes on those comps and some tunes that I wish had better quality.( Younger Now for instance )

I like the minimal stuff, and I don't have alot of money to spend on $150 records, so these comps are good enough for me to throw on the ipod. A public thanks to anemiccinema and all the others for compiling songs I probably would not have heard otherwise.

Ollie--dont limit yourself to seeking out "flexipop"-- "Shockwaves" and "New Wave Complex" are also somehow part of the same group--another 20 or cds worth of stuff.

I'll echo randy's sentiments...I've been able to locate 6 or 7 pieces from the collection on vinyl, and their not cheap (Ollie's about right with the $150.00 per piece BTW) But like randy, I guess I've been frustrated listening to some of the better songs IMO that weren't in any real listenable shape. I guess these were the second or third generation tape sourced tracks.

I must confess I had assumed that these were in some way intended for commercial sale...had I known they weren't, I would have cut the makers some slack with my comments about the sound quality of some of the tracks.

BTW: randy, I don't recall the Younger Now track, if you get a chance could you post it?
