Sony BMG just released some new budget-priced CD compilations of '80s artists. The Romeo Void one is pretty cool.

Romeo Void - Never Say Never: Hits, Rarities & Gems

1. Never Say Never (single version)
2. A Girl In Trouble (single version)
3. Guards (single version)
4. Going To Neon (single version)
5. Say No (single version)
6. Six Days And One (single version)
7. Out On My Own (Dance Mix)
8. Say No (Dance Mix)
9. A Girl In Trouble (Dance Mix)
10. Never Say Never (12" single version)

Other CDs in the series include Paul Young, The Hooters, and The Bangles. I just received copies from a buddy at the label; I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet.

AMAZING! What a great collection of rarities, and I LOVE "Guards". I'll be ordering it... as soon as I can find a seller that has it in stock, which I have yet to find.

I'm listening to it in my office now, and it sounds pretty good. Collectables just released their own budget CD of Romeo Void, but it's not as good. The Ideal Copy is stocking that one; perhaps they will carry this one soon as well.

At least somebody remembered "Say No" this time around. I guess the idiot who compiled "Warm in Your Coat" was busy.

Just another note on these - all four of these discs contain songs that say "single version" on the credits, but I don't think they're all remixes and/or edits. If anything, it seems like they just pulled the master tapes for the corresponding singles.

Here's info on the other 3 discs:

The Hooters - And We Danced: Hits, Rarities & Gems

1. And We Danced (single version)
2. Day By Day (single version)
3. Karla With A K (single version)
4. Satellite (single version)
5. Where Do The Children Go (single version)
6. Nervous Night (single version)
7. Always A Place
8. The House Of Wolfgang (single version)
9. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (live)
10. Time After Time (live)

Paul Young - Everytime You Go Away

1. Everytime You Go Away (single version)
2. Come Back And Stay (single version)
3. Love Of The Common People (single version)
4. Don't Dream It's Over
5. Love Will Tear Us Apart
6. Softly Whispering I Love You
7. Calling You
8. Broken Man
9. I Was In Chains
10. Man In The Iron Mask

Bangles - Glitter Years: Rarities & Gems

1. Eternal Flame (single version)
2. Watching The Sky
3. Walk Like An Egyptian (extended dance mix)
4. Glitter Years
5. Hero Takes A Fall (single version)
6. James
7. What I Meant To Say (single version)
8. I Got Nothing (from The Goonies soundtrack)
9. Everything I Wanted
10. Some Dreams Come True

I just added artwork and tracks to Amazon for the Romeo Void CD in case anyone wants to see what it looks like.

I am STILL unable to find a place that stocks this. What a pain!

Yes, what is up with this cd? I can't find it in stock anywhere. Has it even been officially released? Something is definitely wrong.

I think the issue is that it is a budget CD. Some companies (like Sony) only sell these items to distributors and retailers in box lots of 30, or on a one-way basis without the ability to return. That may be part of the problem. (The concept for these CDs is that they are to be sold at a budget price, usually in dump bins in stores, or truck stops, etc. Selling them in bulk on a one-way basis keeps costs down, hence the low price. It's rare to find them merchandised in the artist section of a chain CD store). I've seen the Paul Young, Bangles and Hooters CDs at Tower Records on Broadway in Manhattan (in a budget dump bin), but not the Romeo Void. Perhaps the fine folks at Ideal Copy will read this and get this item in stock...

CD Universe just sent me an email to say it has been shipped to me.
Only took about 6 weeks!

Seeing that CD Universe has it back in stock, I just ordered one as well. It should be an interesting little cd to have.

Too bad the Paul Young cd does not contain the extended version of "Come Back And Stay".
