Yeah, I pre-ordered as well as soon as I found out about it (thank you Ideal Copy!). It seems to have all the Peel Sessions I think - can't wait to get it!

amazon.co.uk price: $11.17 (excluding VAT).

Ideal Copy price: $13.99.

You do the math.

Yeah, I've heard this before...
But, to me IC is like the local independent record store as opposed to Amazon's Wal-Mart appeal. That alone is worth the chump change difference... [;)]

Yeah, and like most local record stores it has crummy selection. Supporting amazon supports their incredibly wide range of products.

Actually Amazon.com is charging $18.98 however they say that :" if the Amazon.com price decreases between your order time and release date, you'll receive the lowest price."
That price seems a bit high but I believe that it includes the cost of an insurance. A shipment with 2 CD's didn't arrive, they just replaced them, no question asked. I would have wished to support Ideal Copy but 1. Their shipment fee to the Philippines is prohibitive. 2. They never answered my past inquiries and 3. it's true that Amazon has a wider selection.

BTW the CD will be released on Oct 31

No, amazon.CO.UK is charging $11.17.

NEVER buy UK imports from amazon.com, it makes NO sense.

Ok for the sake of demonstration, this is what I would pay ordering from Amazon UK
Items: £5.95
Postage & Packing: £3.58

Total before VAT: £9.53
VAT:* £0.00

Using the Universal Currency Converter, the cost in $ would be:$17.9893 . However banks usually use a higher conversion rate. Also, I don't know if my purchase will be subject to VAT, that's what they say: The correct VAT will be charged when the items are shipped and detailed on your ship confirmation email.
In the end I'm not very sure if it would be advantageous to buy from Amazon.UK, I'm getting lots of promotional certificates and shipping discount from Amazon.com, so for the time being I'm happy with my simple life having to deal in $.... only.[:D]

VAT is only charged when you're ordering from the UK.

however, $18.98 from Amazon.com does not include shipping..

If you enjoy getting ripped off, feel free to not order from amazon.co.uk.

I would rather pay a little extra in postage (or, more likely, buy a number of CDs to spread the postage cost) than know that the peeps at Ideal Copy are laughing at me for buying their overpriced imports. Ditto amazon.com.

Thanx for the VAT info, I hate bad surprises eheheheh.
That's true that $18.98 doesn't include the shipment, I usually pay around $3+ per CD coz I always order 4-6 at a time. I will call my bank to have a better idea of the conversion rate they would be using and monitor the price of that CD since they might lower the price. They just did that for the Fisherman's Blues album.

In Canada it's the opposite my friend... the chains stock what's 'Popular' and the Indies fill the gaps with the hard to find stuff. The Ideal Copy isn't a threat to Amazon... they're specialising in the New Wave / Punk / Alternative genre - you won't find Celine Dion or Rod Stewart CD's there. I've ordered from Amazon many times (.ca, .com. and .uk) and I've got no problem with them. BUT I always check with IC and support them if the price is comparable.
On the same note, I'll order direct from the artist (case in point: Andy Partridge's 'Fuzzy Warbles' series) regardless of the Amazon savings. It's only money... and I'd rather it goes directly to the person who creates the music then a mega-corporation (just to save myself a couple of bucks).

All in all though, it comes down to personal preference - you do what you want to do, right? Just don't get bent out of shape if someone disagrees...

Doesn't matter to me as I never, ever, buy CDs at physical shops.

Ideal Copy is a freaking ripoff fraud and I can't believe anyone uses them. For example they've got the new Lisa Gerrard Australian CD at $24.99 vs. $17.49 at amazon.
