It seems right to announce this first at the NWO, since this forum has been so helpful to me to track down so many of the indie '80s wave sounds I dig! So...

After 25 years, I'm very excited to announce that the long-awaited JACKET WEATHER CD album "When Shadows Move 1982-1984" will be released April 16, 2007 on my PCMP label here in the USA. The 24-track CD (all from the master tapes) includes the entire rare 6-song 1983 vinyl EP, many unreleased tracks, and 6 unreleased tracks from the band that Jacket Weather morphed into, REPTILE HOUSE.

JACKET WEATHER's unique minimalist wave sound includes dual Casiotone keyboards and real drums & bass -- bridging the dirge and electro dance genres. They were described in their day as a cross between Joy Division and Her Daughter's Wedding or Wall of Voodoo -- but those kinds of comparisons are best left to the listener!

As a special bonus, this limited edition release will include a free copy of the 1983 EP; we just found a small box of the original vinyl!

This is so worth a bump. I ordered my copy right away. The old EP is super intriguing. Tim's description is right on. Not so much Joy Division but perhaps some of the darker, quirkier LA bands of that era like Wall of Voodoo, Humans, maybe a touch of Gleaming Spires, and some other influences I can't quite put my finger on.

Two Thumbs Up!

Thanks so much for the kind comments. Jacket Weather made some very unique, unnusual minimal-wave music, and I am delighted that today -- April 16, 2007 -- that the CD is indeed finally available!

I think it's interesting to my ears, almost 25 years since I recorded this material, how much more "pop" it sounds to me (by today's standards). This is underground, dark, moody electro stuff, but it has hooks and melodies and some feel to it that is pretty catchy (and contemporary).

Anyway, I hope those on the NWO who are adventuous in their listening will give it a chance. Thank you all for your encouragement in getting this released!
