There is going to be alot of good stuff coming out in 2008-09. The Cure is due for "Disintegration" getting the Deluxe treatment and a host of Japan Mini LP CD's (I mentioned those earlier this month).
U2 is getting the Deluxe 2 CD treatment on "Boy", "War", and "October" In May.
The Replacements are getting the first 4 albums remastered with bonus tracks thru Rhino before April.
Jesus and Mary Chain are getting their first 5 CD's remastered (AGAIN... but without the crappy Dual Disc stuff)... not sure if they are getting bonus tracks.
Plus I heard EMI is working on PIL's first 5 albums for remastering at the moment... not sure if they are getting bonus tracks either. 1st Edition, 2nd Edition, Flowers, This is What You Want, Album...
So, combined with more Robyn Hitchcock re-releases on Yep Roc and the Thompson Twin re-releases, this year is looking to be quite expensive, and this is just the first half of the year announcements.

Thanks for the list! I am really looking forward to the early U2 albums...they are long overdue for upgraded sound!
Do "Tim" or "Pleased To Meet Me" fall within that set of four Replacements remasters?

I didn't know about the U2 reissues - that's cool. I'm guessing Boy will have the original cover art? October desperately needs some sort of re-mastering (U2 also needs to stop ignoring that album in their concerts).
Check out the strange tracklisting for the Japanese release of Disintegration:
Disc 1:
1. Plainsong
2. Pictures of You
3. Closedown
4. Lovesong
5. Last Dance
6. Lullaby
7. Fascination Street
8. Prayers for Rain
9. The Same Deep Water as You
10. Disintegration
11. Untitled
Disc 2:
1. Last Dance
2. Homesick
3. Babble
4. Out of Mind
5. 2 Late
6. Fear of Ghosts
I'm guessing the tracklisting is based on the vinyl version, since Last Dance and Homesick were originally CD/cassette only (though Last Dance is still listed on Disc 1 here..confusing). I hope Disc 2 of the U.S. reissue has way more bonus tracks (it must, considering tracks 1 and 2 will be on Disc 1), like the 'home demos' and unreleased tracks we've seen on the previous re-issues.
I hope EMI eventually remasters PIL's 9 album, as it could really use some extra low end in the mix (it's always sounded thin to me).
..and Replacements..Robyn Hitchcock..you're not kidding, it's gonna be a very expensive year!

yeah, weird.
i've also had a look at the japanese cardboard-sleeve releases, and i'm perplexed. $40.00 imports for....the cardboard sleeve? i was hoping, as the u.s. remasters skipped "japanese whispers," that they'd stick those extendeds and miscellaneous bits on the japanese one, as they did when they were pumping up the tracks for "disintregation" inexplicably- but alas. no.
ho hum, i'll listen to "join the dots" instead.

Where did you see the U2 news? I've done a brief websearch, and cannot find anything.

Amazon has listings up for each album deluxe treatment to be released May 20
Boy: Deluxe Edition
October: Deluxe Edition
War: Deluxe Edition
All of them are costing around $26.99... the same price as all of the other Universal "Deluxe" 2 disc sets which have been coming out for years.

god knows those early u2 cds sound like trash.. the band has been remastering them themselves by the way, with other titles to follow.
That early island catalogue is in dire need or remastering.. Grace Jones, Robert Palmer, many others.. amazing that this stuff hasnt been yet. Especially Robert, you think they would have try to cash in on his death a few years ago.

All 3 of the U2's are available for pre-order via Amazon; 'Under A Blood Red Sky' is due in September, supposedly with the full concert on DVD as the bonus; the Cure are also supposedly reissuing 'Mixed-Up' and 'Wish' at the same time & supposedly all of the missing original 12" mixes (including the ones that have popped on the Retroactive comps) will be the bonus disc on 'Mixed-Up'; also, a Cure live box is supposedly coming out at the end of the year that will contain Concert, Paris, Show & In Orange officially debuting on disc. The rest of the Replacements catalog (i.e. their Sire output) is due out later this year with bonus material, also on Rhino. Looks to be a good year!

I wonder if we'll finally get a proper CD version of "Cloudberry" (along with the rest of Lost Wishes) on Disc 2 of Wish?
