New Order Remasters

New Order Remasters

Postby schwenko » Wed May 28, 2008 11:52 am

from NOOL:

http://www.play.com/Music/CD/-/34/48/3- ... 8+Sep+2008
Play.com have the albums from Low-Life to Technique down for the release date of 22nd September 08. No sign of Movement at this stage, nor any details re: track-listing. However, the £14.99 RRP would suggest there is a possibility of a 2nd disc as with the JD remasters. Here's hoping this is the case and that they put the right material on there. Oh, and that the remastering itself is not botched, in true NO stylee...

I remember reading once, in an old DJ mag, that 'Techinque" had several more songs that were written for it, that didnt make it onto cd. Let's hope they didnt scrap them entirely.

There's four Techinique b-sides that I can think of:

Don't Do It
MTO
The Happy One
Best and Marsh (appears on Blue Monday '88 as a b-side, but was written and recorded circa Technique, and sounds that way)

The 'Technique Demos' boot also has a couple of unfinished, unknown demos. Perhaps they eventually became something. Best and Marsh is on this boot, too.

I hope the Technique re-master doesn't suffer from Loudness War Syndrome. The bass would shred my speakers!

Thanks for the post schwenko! I am especially looking forward to Technique; I still play that more than any other NO album.

I hope they don't include any bonus material. How is a fanboy gonna feel special if all those rare tracks he collected by hook or by crook can now be had by any old pedestrian fan? This is all very disappointing.

Best and Marsh was the b side to Round and Round. The b sides to Blue Monday 88 were either Beach Buggy Or Touched By The Hand Of God depending on the formats

Oops, you are correct. I have the Round and Round single, too. Memory lapse, I guess.

Don't forget the instrumental of Vanishing Point. Great track :-D.

Hope they include Evil Dust (Angel Dust instrumental) with Brotherhood. I have it on a Best of Funky Alternatives, and the sound quality is shit.

Bring on the full 12" mixes!

BTW, it's "from PCL to Technique". Substance is listed too. Hmm, wonder if it will be the same edited mixes. If the studio albums are double-disc, I hope it isn't just full of live stuff :-P.

There is no point in releasing substance again as this would be the third time after the factory and london editions. As has been mentioned previously some of the mixes are edited down and they had to leave four tracks of the cd because there wasn't enough space on the discs. So unless they are going to make it a treble cd i see this as a pointless exercise they would be better just sticking the b sides and the full length mixes on the bonus cds with these remasters. I just hope it's not a botched job like that Retro box set which apart from a couple mixes on the second disc and on the bonus fifth disc was on whole a wasted opportunity. Please no live stuff either as much i like them they are absolutely dreadful live.

Firstly, these are remasters, so it doesn't matter how many times they were reissued in the past.

They could always drop the b-sides from Substance and do a double disc of a-sides. Maybe the b-sides could go on the second disc of the albums if these are to be double-disc sets, with non-album b-sides to go with the closest linked album.

I was just browsing the forums on the New Order site when i came across this (It's Movement to Technique only. (so the Factory ones)
I was a bit in the secret, didn't know the information was meant to be leaked yet. As you can imagine, it will be a copycat of the Joy Division ones). Same concept) I hope to hell that is wrong and they don't stick live stuff on them.[:(]

well I'd like to have some livestuff on the discs for sure - especially some early work-in-progress versions for the first albums (and who wouldn't love the complete first show ever as New Order...), but of course just one concert on each bonusdisc wouldn't probably be the coolest thing ever done, a bit of a mixture, livestuff, demos, ... - will definetely wait until the tracklistings are revealed if I buy them or not (just noticed most of the 'new' stuff I buy these days are reissues...)

Substance has errors that have never been rectified. The space limitations are no longer an issue with new 80 minute CDs (and SACDs)
