What songs are left to be released? "Louder than Bombs", "The World Won't Listen" and "Hatful of Hollow" pretty much covered everything, didn't they?

Still looking for my girl with auburn hair and tawny eyes...

what's more encouraging to me than this release is that rhino has usually historically prefaced reissuing back catalogs of new wave/ alternative warner & warner affiliated artists by issuing retrospectives like this first, so hopefully they'll follow suit and we'll see the smiths catalogue given proper treatment in the not so distant future. x, echo & the bunnymen, ramones, talking heads, the cure, pretenders, etc. the only ones they unfortunately didn't (in the u.s. anyway) eventually reissue the catalogs of that i can think off the top of my head are devo, the cars and the b-52's. nearly 10 years ago when i was still in the music industry, my friend who used to work for rhino said that morrissey and marr hate each other way too much for smiths reissues to happen, but hopefully this comp is a sign of better things to come!

oh, my holy trinity!
if only their stuff was re-issued with great sound (poor devo, their biggest seller sounds like absolute crap) and bsides and mixes... the mind reels.
the cars first album got the deluxe treatment... how the mammoth selling "heartbeat city" has not is beyond me. and if i had a remastered "whammy" i'd be so happy...

Re-issue, re-package, re-package
Re-evaluate the songs

Extra track and a tacky badge...

Out of context, really... It's a song about exploiting the death of an artist, not re-issues per se.

Apparently, this is approved by Morrissey and Marr so I'm hopeful that it will be done well. There's also a 7" single box set of the first 10 UK singles (plus the unreleased 'Still Ill' and Dutch 'Headmaster Ritual' singles) being released by Rhino UK:

Not out of context exactly - The Smiths are dead.

This has got to be one of THEE best re-masters I've nought. I'm already a huge Smiths fan, so i wouldve bought it regardless. But, w/Johnny Marr overseeing the remastering on this, this entire 2 disc came out superb. EVERY SINGLE TRACK sounds wonderfully brilliant. If you get the chance to pick up the 2 disc collectors, do so.

I picked up the 2 Disc set. The iTunes version has 3 bonus tracks (2 of which are amongst my favorites), so I downloaded these as well (DRM [:(!] and all).

<font size="1">Favorites of 2008 (so far):
Beach House - Devotion
British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music?
Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours
Crystal Stilts - Crystal Stilts
Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid

I got this yesterday and man i am happy. It sounds wonderful and true to orignal sound just fatter and clearer!

They surely did the whole catalog, they wouldnt just spent money doing a greatest hits, they usually do the full catalog. Hopefully full album masters will follow.
