If you have either Non Stop Ecstatic Dancing or Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret which were remastered in the 90's with lots of bonus tracks as well as the The Twelve Inch Singles compilation they put out about 6 years ago then i feel this deluxe edition is a total waste of money if not i think you would be better seeking them out. The Heat remixes isn't very good unless you like up to date crappy dance mixes and according to amazon.com both will be released in the states on the 18th nov.

This release does contain the 7" version of "A Man Can Get Lost" which has a very early pre-Erotic Cabaret sound and Marc's vocals. This track has only been released once before on CD on an unofficial compilation album.

I bought the Heat CD (it's already been released as an import) because there are a couple of my favorite contemporary remixers on there, including Cicada, who remix new songs into amazing retro-80s feel electro tracks. If you like 'now wave', as I like to call it, you might really appreciate several of the mixes on this 2-disc set. Honestly, there are a couple of songs that have been remixed so well that I prefer the updated mixes. I have all of Soft Cell's output, and personally, I never found their brand of 'synthpop' to be very exciting--it's usually either too show tune or too raucous, and Marc Almond's voice just lilts along, never really grabbing any memorable hooks in the choruses...accept for the cover Tainted Love of course, one of the most overplayed songs of all time.

I'm still trying to decide whether to get the remaster of 'Non Stop', has anyone here actually heard it?

Is the remastering noticeable at all, compared to previously released versions?

Thanks. :)

Hi,

I do have this, but I passed on the mid 90s reissues of both Non-Stops as I already had the reissues from 1992 and the CD singles set, so I can't comment on how the sound quality compares. However... it is clear that they used the Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing CD as a master as the end of Sex Dwarf is missing, but mysteriously appears at the start of the Tainted Love 12", which follows on from it on the '98 reissue.

One complaint I had about the CD single set was that the Torch CD was a bit on the quiet side - this showed up on the later 12" compilation as well. It may have been beefed up a bit this time round, but I'll have to listen again and confirm. Oh, and the last 20-odd seconds of the 12" version of Say Hello are still missing, despite HMV digital listing it at 9:16 for the download version. It's not the end of the world, but it does make me wonder if it's just a rehash of the previous remasters with perhaps the sound levels tweaked a bit.

Unfortunately, the digital download version with the Mutant Moments tracks never appeared.
