...plus 3 bonus tracks. Yes, it's Cherry Red so cue the moans from the usual quarters, but hell, it's not exactly pricey and better than nothing.#13;#10;#13;#10;Mid February apparently#13;#10;#13;#10;http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beat-Boy-Visage/dp/B001PKVDHI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1232217753&sr=8-3

It's really unfortunate when the expected quality concerns of a CD reissue warrants the standard term from those who want it either way: "It's better than nothing".

Oh Scott, please don't get me wrong. Been working in the media long enough to know how frustrating it is when people take the path of least resistance to reissue CDs, DVDs whatever.#13;#10;#13;#10;But it's also a fact of life that not everyone has the technical savvy, know-how or ability to transfer their own vinyl to Cd, let alone have access to master-tapes. #13;#10;#13;#10;Therefore, so long as it's not a bank-breaking exercise, it's hardly surprising that a lot of people will buy these reissues (myself happily included) when you've been waiting 25 years for a CD version to emerge.#13;#10;#13;#10;Personally, I'd much rather pay £12.99 for a Visage CD that's been properly and lovingly remastered by yourself or the Extreme Voice gang or whoever.#13;#10;#13;#10;But until that happens, the likes of Cherry Red (who have put out good stuff in the past, mainly with your name attached to it) and Edsel (who haven't) will always sell their stuff to the majority of fans who've been waiting. There's enough evidence in the collector's market to show that people do upgrade if/when the upgrade happens, but until it does I'm sorry but these lower-grade will always sell to people like myself who have no other access to the music.#13;#10;#13;#10;It doesn't make us wrong, it may make us guilty of accepting lower-grade stuff but there's a lot of proof out there to show we're not harming the possibility of these things getting proper upgrades later.

Actually in this case it doesn't matter.

Two things, although I approach Cherry Red reissues with caution, the last three I bought sounded great, not acceptable but very impressive.
These were Stephen Duffy - Ups and Down, Annabel Lamb - The Flame and Marilyn - Despite Straight Lines. Anyone who wants these titles, go and buy with confidence because you won't be disappointed plus you may be happy for that hour.
Something that bugs me on this site is that a certain person (already on this page)jumps straight in and slags off any Cherry Red release, which I'm sure puts off some people in spite of free thought plus hasn't anyone else noticed a pattern that the condemning comments just happen to coincide with projects that He wasn't involved in. It looks less like an unbiased critique of a release and more a stroppy tantrum from someone who had their toy snatched away from them. Until someone actually has a copy of this (or any other future release) and
says 'I played the entire disc and here's my unbiased personal opinion' we should ignore any other speculation.
Oh, and by the way, I'm not involved in the music biz apart from being a keen music listener but to my knowledge remastering would involve the original tapes which are then mastered again, ie. remastered - not taping your crappy old vinyl then processing it through a computer program so heavily that not only does it remove and crackle/scratch/rumble but it starts eating away at the music leaving you with something flat and lifeless - that's the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, i'm feeling on the subject.

If you read, I wasn't slagging them off smart mouth. I said it was unfortunate that people have to express concern about the quality of impending reissues, which is a general non-specific statement. Cherry Red have gotten better to a degree on certain reissues, but I think it's sad that people cannot be certain they are getting the best possible reissue when purchasing, no specific label being finger pointed as Edsel hold the crown with their last blunder. So since I just woke up and am in a typical morning mood, let me start my day by stating you should stuff it up your presumptuous ass.

Wurd.
The reviews I've seen posted by Rubellan (yeah, I'll type his name here) about Cherry Red or any other reissue have been quite honest despite the obvious falling out with the previously mentioned label.
I think a second stuffing is in order.
All the best,

Haven't finished listening to the disc yet, but it soounds crystal clear so far. In the liner notes it states in BOLD that all the tracks on this CD are sourced from the original master tapes, and claim that's why they didn't include the Machine Mix of Beat Boy because they couldn't find a master tape.

They've all got the original British LP artwork as far as I know. I don't know why stores were showing the US LP artwork.
