Mining the DD catalogue, EMI will be releasing two gems on June 29th (UK)/June 30th (US): The DVD/CD DURAN DURAN – LIVE HAMMERSMITH ‘82! and DURAN DURAN: RIO (2 CD SPECIAL EDITION).

LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH 82! is a much anticipated release among followers of the band. Filmed and recorded in the latter part of 1982 as Duranmania was sweeping England, the performance at London’s Hammersmith Odeon includes “Rio,” “Hungry like the Wolf,” “Girls on Film,” fan favorite “Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)” and more. The release also includes “Rio” era videos and two “Top of the Pops” performances.

The RIO 2 CD SPECIAL EDITION is made up of the UK release of the “Rio” album, the original US Harvest album remixes (enabling US listens to programme their CD to be able to listen to the original version), Manchester Square demos, B-Sides, remixes and other surprises.

Full track listing for both releases below. Keep checking back to Duranduran.com for more information!

Excellent! This is my favorite Double D album. Forgive for asking, but I am guessing digital download only means you have to buy the album on iTunes to receive those two additional tracks?

I've got Rio on CD enough times already, but I'll pick this one up for sure [:D]. Nice that My Own Way and Lonely in Your Nightmare will be on DVD. My Own Way isn't that great, but Nightmare is okay.

Ditto. There's a great performance recorded by the BBC at the Hammersmith Odeon, Dec 17, 1981. And would love to see Careless Memories on DVD. It's one of my favourite Duran videos. Plus, there's Sound of Thunder that still needs to appear on DVD.

(edit// Oops, I mean Nightboat, not Sound of Thunder ... watching it now :-D)

> Digital only extras:
14/My Own Way (Instrumental version) (6.32)
15/Hold Back The Rain (Alternate remix) (6.38)

Hold Back the Rain is on Strange Behaviour, so no big loss there. Don't know where My Own Way instrumental has ever appeared. It's not on the 12" or 7".

My Own Way [Instrumental] only appeared on a UK 12" blue label test pressing.

All the best,

Funny thing about Arcadia is that there is that bootleg that has all the 12" mixes (and more). It doesn't sound like a vinyl transfer, so I wonder where they got the masters. It's pretty sad when someone can release a bootleg of that quality, whereas the actual record label can't be bothered to do shit.

And I swear that I saw a promo the Power Station/Arcadia CD singles boxset on eBay.

At this point, I have no idea if I even have all the b-sides, alternate mixes and remixes on this new edition. I have both singles boxed sets AND the Night Mixes CD that came out years ago, so for all I know, all the bonus tracks here might be accounted for. Guess I'll have to go track by track and compare. Anyone know if all the mixes on Strange Behaviour are included in the singles boxes?

How awesome! I can't wait to see them perform "Friends Of Mine" live. Like Rubellan mentioned, they should do this for the first album too. I would love to see them do "Sound Of Thunder" live as well as see more of the TOTP appearances where they look really New Romantic.

Man, 2 and half months is a long time.

It's about freaking time the original version of Rio got put on CD! I never got around to ripping my vinyl version, guess I won't have to now. Something about the ten extra seconds of Save A Prayer just make it a better song (seriously!). Won't be shelling out for the "Digital Only" songs, though, as I think I've got them both somewhere already (and if I don't, I'll find them elsewhere - I want the CD's!).

Strange Behavious has Planet Earth, Night Mix, and I don't know where it originally appeared on. (This is not the same as Night Version.)

According to the DD discography at http://www.ionpool.net/duran/, the Strange Behaviour version of Hold Back the Rain is the same as what will appear on this new remastered Rio pack, but it sounds almost the same as some other versions, so I didn't bother verifying.

The "US Rio" tracks you won't have on CD. The demos you won't have on CD. The rest, you probably have. Not sure if 211 Rio Night Version is the same version as on the Night Versions compilation. I think it's the same Rio version as on Strange Behaviour.

It was a combo set with the Power Station singles as well, but this Arcadia one looks cool enough to buy.

> It's about freaking time the original version of Rio got put on CD!

It's not the original, not even in the US. The original Rio album didn't have side one remixed by Kershenbaum.

Looking at the tracklist again, I think they're included on Rio 2CD (Enhanced CD), since they're listed as track numbers 14 and 15. Disc two only has 13 tracks, so that should be around 50-60min, leaving enough space for a data track.
