Good news for Spoons' fans. This is from Darrin Cappe and the Spoons V1.4 email update.

Merchandise
As always you go to http://www.thespoons.ca/order.shtml to find out what is in stock and how to order - including CDs, Records, Shirts and DVDs. Most merchandise is also available at shows.
Also coming in January will be TALK BACK - available for the first time ever on CD! - Details will follow shortly.

I am looking forward to this!

Does anyone have the "Unexpected Guest at a Cancelled Party" CD? I'm wondering how this collection of lost tracks is. And I wonder if "Talk Back" is only going to be available through their site...you have to send a check or money order to buy anything! I think the last time I sent a check or money order for something, it was a star wars figure in the 80s!

Yeah, when Darrin sent this update, I blinked my eyes a couple times. I can't believe it, "Talk Back" finally on cd. I can't wait. Hope the sound and artwork is good.

As for "Unexpected Guest", it's got a few really good songs and a handful of ok songs. As a whole, it's nowhere as good as "Arias & Symphonies" or "Talk Back" but it has some songs that could have been included on these albums.

Pretty much, if you like Spoons, it's worth having in your collection.

One more thing, "Vertigo Tango" is a good mature album that hardly ever gets mentioned.

I received the Talk Back cd yesterday.
Since I don't have any checks I sent cash... I trust Sandy[:D]

The album sounds great- not sure why they didn't include Unexpected Guest at a Canceled Party (the song), though Tell No Lies and Romantic Traffic are included.

I got mine a few days ago too and it's awesome. I'm so glad they decided to release this album on cd. I used to think Arias & Symphonies was the best but I am leaning more towards this album now. It's still pretty close though. [:)] My favorite tracks include:

My Favourite Page
Quiet World

Not that there was a lot of videos from the band, I would love to have a video collection dvd.

In the coming weeks, Spoons - Talk Back is being released officially to be sold by Amazon, CD Universe, etc....remastered and with 12 tracks. At CD Universe, they already have it listed as an upcoming release for ten dollars and change, pretty cheap compared to the $20 plus $5 shipping you pay to get it now, plus I guess you get one extra track.

The actual cd is the same (both have 12 tracks- both are missing the instrumental "Unexpected Guest at a Canceled Party".

And yes, $10 is half of $20... but I believe that Spoons Music is Spoons themselves. I received a hand written note from Sandy Horne with my cd.

I've noticed that buying from the musicians' official website often costs more than when buying from places like Amazon. You would figure that cutting out a middle-man would reduce the price. Funny, isn't it?

I was about to hit the store for a money order to send to them for the CD. Pricey but worth it to me. I just happened to check CD Universe and there it was for $10 and change. Plus shipping will be $2.99. I figured I might as well save money and since it is a legitimate CD site, I figure the artists get their cut from each sale.

I'm very happy they chose to release this CD, but I'm far from rich and have to watch my spending since I don't have a great incocme to begin with, so saving the $10 was great for me.

I got the cd at the fan page price and happy to have it early but sad to hear that within two months, this cd is being sold everywhere at about half of what I paid. If CD Universe got it at that price, their wholesale price must have bee $7 or $8. Fans should be rewarded, not ripped off. I don't mind that they are selling these at various stores but the people who paid more at the original release date should have gotten something a little extra for what they paid for. For instance, a lot of the German releases offer a limited edition like adding an extra disc or limited packaging. When it is finally release to the masses, it is just the regular the cd.

Well, as of right now, Amazon US has an estimated delivery time of 1 to 2 months. So I kind of wish I was you right now and already had it in my hands...

I guess I shouldn't complain then. [:D] I am happy that they did decide to release this on cd.

Looks like Amazon.ca ships it right away. Total would be aroung $16.00 US.
