Isn't it just a slightly longer version of the album mix ?

It's good to see this being reissued again as the one released in 2004 on Superfecta Recordings has been going for stupid money lately. Let's just hope it's not another Cherry Red fuck up. Couple of tracks missing from this though them being The Last Flight Of Yuri Gagarin and Rosenmontag. Regarding your question about Nightmares (12" Version) omar there is very little difference to the album version. The 9 minute extended version of Wishing is pure bliss one of my favourite 12 inches that's for sure. Why do they keep ignoring the first album though it hasn't had a proper rerelease yet.

I agree. The first album should've been re-released before anything else ,deserving a deluxe edition treatment.

I've already got this one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Listen-Flock-Se ... 779&sr=8-1
which sounds pretty good, but I might get it just for the Nightmares and Wishing 12" versions.

These two tracks appeared on the pressing from the Bee label (before the Superfecta version), though they weren't shown on the CD's track listing. I was able to get the Bee version of the album relatively cheap on eBay while the Superfecta pressing was still available. Once the Cherry Red pressing is available, you might be able to do the same. Happy hunting!

the extended of wishing is on the jive 'best of' that's been around for 20+ years. i upgraded to the japanese reissue that came out in 2005 - sounds much better and has 5 bonus tracks. money well spent. i just looked on amazon u.s. and it shows that the debut is now out of print and going for $60(!), which i hope is a good omen in that perhaps sony/ bmg will finally reissue it as a deluxe 2 cd remaster. maybe i'm just wishing - ha ha ha. sorry, couldn't resist...

Glad I have the full 8-minute version nicely digitized, cleaned up and tweaked..
Not sure if anybody noticed, but with The Last Flight of YG on the Beehive CD, about one minute was edited off the 12" (7:03), and there are what sound like bad edits or glitches towards the end [:(]

Yeah, very weird how they always skip the 1st album, especially with AFOS's biggest selling track and most well known track being on there. I think I've mentioned this before but I just really believe that albums like this are great sellers for labels and they have never release the rights for anyone to press any reissues. They probably also press tons of these themselves because they are such good sellers and feel there is no need to do reissues. There is another album that falls into this category and that would be The Go-Go's "Beauty and the Beat". I would love to have remasters of each with rare tracks.

Return to the Valley of the Go-Go's (still in print) covers lots of rarities from their early days.

any consensus as to the sound quality of this reissue?

It was moderately good. I felt the Story Of A Young Heart had been remastered slightly better. Cherry Red's version of Listen excells in it's bonus selection, especially the 12' version of Nightmares which to my knowledge has never appeared on cd. If you have the Superfecta remaster of Listen from some years ago don't sell it. It has a far better sound.

Though not listed on the CD, the version of "Committed" on this CD is the extended version. Bummer, I was hoping for the 7" one.
