Hi
As mentioned previously in the Kim Wilde 'Teases & Dares' thread, we're reissuing the "Automatic" album by Sharpe + Numan via Cherry Pop in October 2010.
This has been put together by the same team behind both the Kim Wilde and Animotion Cherry Pop reissues; and the tracklisting will be:
1 - Change Your Mind
2 - Turn Off The World
3 - No More Lies ('89 Mix)
4 - Breathe In Emotion
5 - Some New Game
6 - I'm On Automatic
7 - Rip It Up
8 - Welcome To Love
9 - Voices
10 - Nightlife
11 - Love Like A Ghost
12 - No More Lies (Original 7" Version)
13 - I'm On Automatic (12" Extended Version)
14 - Voices (Extended Version)
15 - No More Lies (12" Extended Version)
Obvious omissions are 'Change Your Mind' (12" Extended Version) and 'New Thing From London Town'...both unfortunately absent due to licensing restrictions. Universal have supported this project however with masters etc. and the 20 page booklet looks fantastic - it has lyrics for all tracks; extensive sleevenotes; and comments from Bill, Gary & Roger Odell about some of the tracks + making the album etc.
More info to come - catalogue number will be CRPOP67
Cheers
Steve Thorpe

This is good news and look forward to the release
I would have been dissapointed with the change your mind 12" if it had not been included on the electro pop 80's 12"
I presume the New Thing From London Town version you are talking about is the original version that is different to the Strange Charm version ?
I was under the impression that the masters for that could not be located anyway as i believe the version on Numans compilation Dreams For Old is mastered from Vinyl
Thanks for spending the time in getting this re-issued it is much appreciated
I know I bang on about this but can someone in Cherry Red look into getting the Secession album (a dark enchartment) re-issued , this is going for silly money ( i do actually have the vinyl version but would love a remastered version of thsi brill album)

Execllent discography takes me back looking at all those old tracklistings etc my mum used to work for PRT records in the 80's so used get all the releases from the NUMA label etc. I am a big fan of numan and have enjoyed most of his styles ( all except machine and soul and quite a bit of outland)
Thanks for the link

Thanks for the comments!
I believe that we couldn't get hold of the 12" of 'Change Your Mind' because of it being included on the Electro Pop '80s 12" collection (i.e. there are minimum licensing periods granted by Universal for certain tracks); at least - as you mentioned - it is available there on CD already.
Agree - it would have been great to get the original 7" of New Thing From London Town onto 'Automatic' (the version on New Dreams For Old is definitely a vinyl rip from an unplayed copy of the single). However getting hold of the rights to use this from Eagle (or whoever now owns the masters) just wasn't possible in the timeframe available (everything else on the Cherry Pop reissue is from Universal).
The tracks will be mastered by Turan Audio over the next couple of weeks, and hopefully we're on schedule for an October 2010 release as planned.
Cheers
Steve

Hi there -
Quick update on the progress with the 'Automatic' reissue:
- artwork signed off and sent to the manufacturers
- mastering in progress and first listening copy auditioned
- final version expected to be signed off w/b 13th September
So looks like we're on track for the October 18th release date. Really hope you guys like this one once you get hold of a copy next month - it's looking and sounding fantastic!
All the best,
Steve Thorpe

Looking forward to it -- I have the originals but they could use a remaster! This has always been one of my favorites.

Hi All
Sharpe + Numan now available direct to pre-order from the Cherry Pop website - link as below. Not sure why the promo text there states that 'No More Lies' didn't chart (and gets the chart position for 'Change Your Mind' wrong!) - it's not what's written in the cd booklet...that's for sure!

Hope everyone enjoys it once it's released on 18th October.
Cheers
