James Freud RIP
Posted: Wed Nov 03, 2010 6:28 pmModels' frontman James Freud, 51, took his own life today following a long struggle with drugs and alcohol.
The singer's death has shocked the Australian music industry with the Melbourne Band being inducted in to the ARIA Hall of Fame just one week ago.
Police confirmed a 51-year-old man was found dead by family members at his Hawthorn home this morning and said the circumstances weren't suspicious.
Freud joined the Models in 1982 during the band's most popular period and chronicled his struggle with alcohol and drugs in two memoirs, I Am the Voice Left from Drinking and I Am the Voice Left from Rehab.
Freud is survived by his wife Sally, and sons Harrison and Jackson.
