I knew someone would ask. An unknown project who call themselves The Future. They also did a New Musik-soundalike song. Mainly a hobby project. They like(d) to go inside the heads of those famous groups and do something in the same vein. A fun idea I think. They have no website I believe. /JW

Well I had to ask to tag it in iTunes. Really liked it.

I found aon interview I did with them in 2008, here is their main text: "The Future: Well you see... We (Jonas Nordin & Klas Qvist) share an
interest in the synthesizer-based music as it sounded before it all went
mainstream, before 1985 when everybody, even Dylan, recorded with synths and
drum machines.
Human League, New Musik, The Korgis, Ultravox are among the favourites. At
this time, ca 2001, we started playing around with ideas that very much
sounded like some of the above mentioned.
Klas: As I remember it, Jonas composed the largest part of "If Your Really
Love Me", with me adding the middle eight, the lyrics and the Philip
Oakey-ish vocals. I'm not actually sure that this is the final product.
Jonas: No... There is definitely something missing in it...
Klas: I heard it the other day and felt that the song needed some unpolished
but highly enthusiastic female vocals one or two octaves over the lead.
I was more involved in "Only One Life", simply since I played both "From A
To B" and "Anywhere" until the grooves wore out and I had one or two ideas
of how it should sound in terms of lyrics, harmonies and melody.
Jonas, who won't miss the credits, came up with the intro as well as the
rhythm and as it turned out, this became something of a hook.
Jonas: Let's say, Klas is the real musician among us, I'm actually more of a
producer. But Only One Life at least is finished."

This is actually really good. If this band released a cd, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

Really impressed with that If You Really Love Me tune; and a fascinating project idea. Just need to find their 'Only One Life' tune now! I'd definately buy an album too. Thank you for the link and info!

If anyone did not get it, this song is of course a tribute to New Musik. It was actually released on a very limited various artists CD http://www.discogs.com/Various-Hit-Musi ... se/2401040

Pretty pointless doing a Human League one as 99% of their mixes and b sides are already available on CD. Why can't they be a bit more original and pick 80s bands whose 12 inch mixes have never appeared on CD before like say Wang Chung or The Cure as two examples.

I think, as always there are pros and cons with this kind of compilation. While it's correct that most versions has been issued on CD before, there are advantages of having all/most extended versions handy on one CD (it's practical, and also they would be having the same sound level) and this CD series is very cheap. Disadvantages, well this CD series has a very boring generic design, with no info about the tracks apart from the usual writing credits, no photos, no nothing. Boooring. But in the end I would buy it for its advantages. /JW

Just sent an email with the following recommendations:

The Art of Noise - none of the China era remixes have been issued on CD (save the pricey Dragnet CD single)
The B-52s - tons of mixes that has never seen release on CD
David Bowie - Very few of his 80s mixes have seen release on CD
Dead or Alive - A large market for them since Epic stupidly cancelled 12" Collection
Eurythmics - Plenty of good mixes with no remix compilations to date
INXS - Only existing remix comp had mediocre updated remixes, no originals
Scritti Politti - Would be nice to have a complete mix compilation
Wang Chung - plenty of mixes that has never seen release on CD
