They should retitle that Grand Soul 12" Inches. There's too many unimpressive 80s compilations out there.

Hi,

It is already available in Belgium. This was never a only "new wave compilation". Ben Liebrand is just a "old skool" DJ. He started in the early eighties. These compilations are just a reflection from what he used to play in those days.

for me, it's not even a matter of it not being new wave. It's just getting so repetitive. There's a huge scope of 12" mixes that never made it to CD, so to have these expensive collections loaded with stuff already available with just a few new titles is a bummer. I actually like when liebrand creates more complete 12" mixes using various versions that were missing parts. For instance, "On the Radio" on here is the 'long version,' which happens to be missing parts that are in the shorter version! It would have been nice if Liebrand had worked his magic and made one of his complete versions that smoothly edited in all the varying parts from the different versions.

Yes, a lot has been released before but it's one of Liebrand's best Grand 12 Inches-compilations so far imho.
The FGTH track is out of place on this compilation.

Be warned, I downloaded the Chaka Khan "I Feel For You" remix to see if it was better quality than on the Japanese EP "Perfect Fit" (these comps generally have very good audio quality) and I was shocked when I heard it - it sounded horrible! Not that there's anything wrong with the sound on the "Perfect Fit" CD, I just thought maybe it had been improved on. Obviously not.

Ben Liebrand's Grand 12-inches have always delivered outstanding quality. I buy them directly from his website and he definitely takes his mastering and/or remastering seriously. All of you should check out the liner notes he posts concerning the mixes he selects. It's definitely a labour of love for Mr. Liebrand. Hey, much of the 12-inch mixes are from the disco era, however he does include the occasional new wave gem and he really can't be faulted on any quality issues. PLEASE check out the site and read people of the pains he goes through, from either finding the mixes and then also at bringing out their sonic lustre. This guy is the real deal when it comes to quality compilations. Don't let anyone tell you different!!!
