ZTT really needs to release Grace Jones "Slave To The Rhythm"
next. That ones due for a major with all the various remixes and re-edits . Also the first two Seal albums should be up for some remastering.

If they were to release STTR I hope all those stupid interviews are left out in between the songs .

i think the interviews make it, because it is a biographical work. all the songs are pastiches of themselves and the other mixes, so it's more a stream of consciousness exercise, more an artwork than anything. i LOVE this album.

My sentiments exactly Bruiser. I love this album the way it is. Like you said, "... it is a biographical work. all the songs are pastiches of themselves and the other mixes, so it's more a stream of consciousness exercise, more an artwork than anything..." It also reminds one of what Art of Noise was intent on doing in the beginning, experimenting with sounds, sampling and the spoken word. The video was awesome as well and I love the "photographic editing" that was done with Grace's photo; cutting it with a razor knife and editing the pieces back together in a collagists masterpiece. What was done aurally, they did it visually. Phenomenal album all around. Would very much like to hear additional mixes and hopefully including Razormaid's "Jones, The Rhythm" included. Joseph Watt and Art Maharg really had a way with New Wave/Progressive/Experimental/Dance Rock releases especially in the early days of the label. Hey, their versions of "Beat Box", "Warriors of the Wasteland" and "Dr. Mabuse" were among the very best (re)interpretatios of classic ZTT catalog releases.

I remember the original UK release had only a few interview segments while the US version had longer versions of some tracks as well as longer interviews between all the tracks. If theyd remastered the entire album what would they choose?

this entire post made me horny. ;-)

i had never thought about the correlation between the songs and the cut up cover- jean-paul goude had been doing the collage technique on his photos at the time already, but what a perfect match that album turned out to be: collage for a collage. good point!
