INXS’ 1987 album Kick sold 6 million copies and spawned four Top 10 singles in the U.S., turning the Aussie rockers into global superstars. Now, 25 years later, the band this fall will release an expanded edition of the album featuring three CDs and a DVD packed with remixes, demos, “unheard tracks,” a documentary and home video footage.

Crazy Crazy price.

With Mp3s etc - you'd think record companies would offer good product and good prices.

Interesting track listing. This 4-disc set could easily be reduced to 3 discs if some of the b-sides or remixes were placed on the first disc. Oh well. I suppose that it's another way for the label to justify the price. I had no idea of a 12" Australian mix of "New Sensation". Can't wait to hear this one! Nice to see "Do Wot You Do" make an appearance as well. What's up with the DVD though? It's missing promo videos for "Devil Inside", "Never Tear Us Apart", "New Sensation", and "Mediate". Why not include everything? Well, at least we get "Guns In The Sky". I own both the 2002 Rhino reissue and 2004 Universal deluxe edition, yet I'll probably still buy this release provided that the price is not insane.

Still a few remixes and b-sides missing from that track list, sadly, most notably "Guns in the Sky (Kookaburra Remix)" and "Need You Tonight (Ben Liebrand Remix)". Plus a couple of live b-sides. There's plenty of room for them with only seven tracks on Disc 3.

You don't have to wait, because if you've heard "Nick's 12" Mix" you've already heard it. I checked the referenced catalog number, it isn't different, so either this is a misprint or they're actually going to put the same remix on two different discs.

However....it's possible they are referring to The Beginerz Mix, from the Australian "Remixes" compilation.

I'm not too sad about losing the Kookaburra Remix of "Guns" since it's really just an edit of the Kick Ass Mix minus all the crazy (fun) stuff.

About the only thing I'm excited for is the Nile Rodgers Remix of Calling All Nations. Not sure if that's enough to buy the set, though.

Nile Rodgers actually did two separate mixes for Calling All Nations - a 7" mix and a 12" mix. As they are entirely separate mixes it would have been nice to have seen both used.

IS THAT THE TWELVE INCH MIX ? Out late 2010 www.robgrillo.co.uk

Thank you for the info. I may pass on buying this then. Not sure if it's really worth it.

You would think they never released any other albums the way this one keeps getting rehashed. This is basically the deluxe version with a few extra tracks tagged on with a rubbish looking DVD and they are asking £46 for it.

yep the nile rodgers remix is not worth paying a fortune for - poor, they could have compiled far more

Has anyone actually bought this or had the chance to listen to the remaster?

I'm with crystal. I want to know how this remaster is. I did pre-order this item from Amazon.com when I first heard about its release <Thank You New Wave Outpost Forum Members!!!> but when the release date came, unfortunately, it is temporally out-of-stock. This sucks as you would think a pre-order would guarentee a delivery. With the rant aside, how is this release? I'm excited to get it. Wish all of INXS's 12-inch mixes were available on disc. They have other albums which need to be expanded/celebrated as well.

Since no one else has said it yet, there is no Nile Rodgers remix of Calling All Nations here. Instead it features a short mix by someone called "Kids On Bridges". The mix itself isn't bad, but unless you're a remix junkie like myself, it's not essential.

In fact, if you own the previous 1989 Japanese Special Edition of Kick (which I do), you already got the remixes of New Sensation, Guns In The Sky, Devil Inside and Need You Tonight along with bonus tracks Move On and Different World.

I fail to see anything worth the exorbitant price here.

It's also worth noting that the closet thing to a remix compilation that has been released is the 1990 UK promo Selective INXS Vol 3, which contains the same mixes of Devil Inside, New Sensation and Guns In The Sky, but offers the Ben Liebrand Mix of Need You Tonight (instead of the Mendelsohn Mix) and adds the remix of What You Need. A bit hard to come by, though, I bought mine on EBay for a not-so-cheap price.

Of course there are still remixes not included, but I'm not planning on anything better coming down the pike.
