I'm just praying that the mastering isn't jacked up <brickwalled> like so many "remastered" reissues.

I have no further detalls, sorry. All Pete told me was "Oh btw "Burning Bridges is being re-released on CD in England in November . . ."

I have in mind to suggest him this tracklist, but wanted to run it through the fan mill first, so to speak. /JW

Perhaps someone (discoginfo?) could tell me what the differences are between the 5:41 and the 5:42 extended versions of Always Something?

I've unsuccessfully tried to find the Jellybean Remix, or at least it's never labeled as such, whereas I have definitely heard the 1982 Extended Version. The time being almost the same would lead me to guess that there isn't much difference, but I really have no idea.

On another note, I've always thought that the Extended Version was very odd, with the multiple passages of the ominous synth chord at the beginning.

Thoughts, anyone?

Again discoginfo,

I can't praise your efforts enough. You are the absolute best person to go to when it comes to celebrating a bands discography!! I somehow hope labels find out about you because you do set the standard on what should be released on a project and WHY!!!

I am looking forward to this release to hear the extended versions of "Always Something There To Remind Me." John "Jellybean" Benitez version removed those great chimes at the beginning of his mix which I sadly lamented. Do the extended mixes have these chimes in tact? I can only hope. I do like Jellybean's mixes, but not everyone was all that great.

Again, I think your knowledge is sensational and I humbly appreciate all your efforts when it comes to compiling listings for a band's oeuvre.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey

Jeffrey, what can I say. Thanks...!

Unfortunately record companies don't share your praisal,
even though I had my site since 1996.

Just because I suggest the track list, does not mean they will be included on the CD. I still have not received any response from Pete.
He did let me help with the tracklisting for the Everything & More CD though.

I suspect now that there are only TWO 12" Versions of Always...
1. Tony's original 1982 Extended (6 min)
2. Jellybean's 1983 Remix (5,5 min)

The confusion is, in part, caused by the fact that track 2 on Everything & More CD is credited to "original Tony mansfield 12" Mix" but it's 5,5 min, not 6, and sounds exactly like the Jellybean version on the blog link I gave you.

The fact that those 2 mixes are not very extremely different (it was the early 80s) may have caused the error to slip through. But like I said, since I don't have access to the original vinyls and can check/clock, I don't know the truth. I do have the 6 min as MP3 though. The problem with youtube is, most people who upload are not experts on versions, and I don't blame them.

discoginfo,

I really appreciate your response. And I know what you mean, people who upload music to youtube aren't really music experts.

I'm very excited about the CD and I'm gald you got to offer your excellent input to the project. As far as the labels go, they need to WAKE UP and take notice of your talents!!!

I'm with Jeffrey on this one. Discoginfo, you are amazing! I don't really post a ton on this site, but I browse enough to see how thorough and amazing your suggested track listings are! Thank you for taking the time in trying to post comprehensive suggested track listings. I am really looking forward to this Naked Eyes release since I missed "Everything And More" upon its original release (and it's now fetching too much money). Hopefully, your suggested track listing will be taken into consideration.

<br>I forgot, also the different mix of The Time Is Now:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/1hamiv

Please don't give this link out, it's for comparison only.
It's taken from the UK vinyl LP, it's different compared to the version on CD. Not sure if the CD version was a single B-side version? (US "Always Something....")
If so, it could be included as bonus "US 7" B-side Mix"
Perhaps someone here has that US 7" and could compare?

Thank you for the MP3. I am in the USA and have never heard this version!

I can confirm that the mix of "The Time Is Now" that appeared on the "Promises, Promises" Best Of CD 19yrs ago (!!!!!!) is exactly the same mix that appeared on the USA 7" B-Side of "Always Something There To Remind Me". I bought that 7" in 1983 and played "The Time Is Now" as often as I did the A-Side. My older brother, who was a classical music major at the time, loved "The Time Is Now" so much he went out and bought his own copy of the 7". We both particularly loved the delayed percussion bit at the end for some reason hehehe. It's a brilliant track, as was everything else Naked Eyes put out. Top quality stuff.

Maybe I'm now biased toward the USA 7" mix of "The Time Is Now" after so many years, but I do feel it has a more "complete" overall sound to it. But it's really not too radically different from the UK LP version you've shared. I have all 3 Naked Eyes compilations and wasn't sure I'd bother getting this re-issue of "Burning Bridges", but I think now I will, just to have another version of that great tune! I would LOVE it if BOTH versions were included ;-)
