I was browsing on amazon, noticed a couple of upcoming SM releases.

1) 5 album boxset. I guess this could be x5 redux, aimed at the NA market. Value priced, just over $20 - includes S&F/SFC, NGD, Sparkle in the Rain, Once Upon a Time and Street Fighting Years (going by the picture at the amazon site). October 2 listed as release date.

2) 5x5 live - only info is it's a 2 CD set, no tracklist. Assuming it is either a mix of tracks from the 5x5 tour, or one of the stops recorded. Release date listed as Nov. 27.

If it's like the X5 set, I may get it (presuming the pricing is the same). I know there were complaints about the packaging and lack of booklets of the X5 set, but when I think about it, how often do I look at CD booklets? And having the 2002 remasters in jewel cases, it's not like the booklets were that great to begin with. Asides from Empires and Dance, which had lyrics, the other albums in this set had info that you're not going to look at more than once. And no, the cardsleeves aren't as nice as the 2001 versions, but they do the job, and look okay.

Sadly, taking another look at the photo, it looks like they are just the 2002 versions, with no extras. If that's the case, I'll pass, even if they come in cardsleeves.

Amazon UK are saying (5CD) 5 original albums packaged together : Sons & Fascination, New Gold Dream.., Sparkle in the Rain, Once Upon a Time, Street there will be no bonus tracks.

Seems to be the case + I don't think the band is involved at all, considering the set includes (if we believe the coverphoto) Sons + Fascination and New Gold Dream again...

The live 2CD of the recent 5x5 gigs sounds interesting though.

If I buy this, it would be like the 10th version of New Gold Dream that I would own. [:D]
