Look how Repertoire butchered up the Sparks Extended: The 12 inch mixes release and expectations are at a natural low for this one.

Seems they have "resurrected" the REAL 12" Mixes (some were just the regular album or single versions). Like I always say, better to ask the fans first. Pride? /JW

Seriously, I didn't know this yesterday when I talked about that Sparks 12 inch release. I looked it up this morning on amazon and I was flabbergasted. Thought my eyes have played tricks on me (again).

It's good to keep talking about inferior releases me thinks ...
Lots of people have to thank this forum.

Now let's go back to the subject [;)]

I have a remix of Opera Singers in digital format,
same duration as album version, but has heavier rhythm
and the "lead melody" starts after 15 seconds, compared
to after 7-8 seconds on the album version. I was told
that it's from the B-side to the 12" Inch of Communication
Breakdown, but apparently that is the album version.
Does anyone out there know about that version? /Thanks

Since two days, tracks and time listings are already available on Discogs, but the CD's are not out yet! Release date is December 17!

Weird thing is that Headlines and Early Morning Wake Up Call are not listed under the original albums, which is mostly the case.

Apparently the guy who listed them at discogs.com has advance copies..? It's generally up to the members to list the CDs, this time the quality control seem to have failed (of course they should have been listed under the original albums).

They have bene postponed, btw, to 14th Dec (Germany) and 17th Dec (UK).

Well, I listened to both albums (don't have the 12 inch collection, maybe at a later date) and to be frank: The remasters are great!

It's not often that I say such things because a lot of remasters are way too loud for me and does have crushed dynamics. But these are lovely done. Ofcourse I'm only talking about Headlines (REP 5261) and Early Morning Wake Up Call (REP 5262). The bass is not too heavy presented. I hear a lot more (synth) stuff that I never heard before, especially on tracks like Waiting for a Train, Where Were You, Love Is A Gun, Hey Jimmy and both (bonus) versions of Something About You.
The whole album sounds much clearer and adds more to the original.

I think it's because of money reasons that the 12 inch collection was executed as a separate project, but those 12 inch versions could have easily fitted into both albums.

For Headlines it could have included Waiting for a Train (Extended Version, Disco Version & Instrumental Version).

For Early Morning Wake Up Call it could have included the Extended Version of the title track, Communication Breakdown (Remix) and Midnight Man (Extended Remix Version, Instrumental Version).

Both come with stickers which can be taken off by removing the plastic.

Sticker says 'Remastered (1982 or 1984) album, with authoritative lines notes.'

There are no lyrics, but you can easily find those online.

Now let's hope for a remastered release of Nights In France with a bonus B-side track from Ayla: Your Love Is Strange.
