Can it really be that NO ONE has mentioned this yet? Jeeez!
Fuzzbox's debut album, Bostin' Steve Austin [1986], finally appears on CD this month. The Splendiferous Edition is a 2CD release, remastered from the original tapes and is expanded with 22 bonus tracks. The official street date s 28/01 but pre-orders placed direct with Cherry Red were dispatched today! Can't wait for mine to arrive, hopefully tomorrow! Here's the details...

I'm hoping it's been done justice and that sales will be healthy enough to warrant a Big Bang! [1989] 2CD later in the year! Please tell me there are some other fans happy at this news? I've been waiting since 1986 for a CD of this! [:D]

And ditto to the wishes of there being a double-disc reissue of Big Bang.

It arrived today! It is... flawless. I am gobsmacked. It's everything it should be... correct fonts, correct designs, original vinyl LP picture labels (both sides - one per CD), all period extras, lyrics, liner notes from Tina, colourful and very attractive. I know Cherry Red can be a bit hit/miss but this hits for me. It's about £9 on pre-order in the UK, but I paid £12 to get it early from Cherry Red. I reccommend!

I had a quick Google and downloaded a free analyser (via
http://en.true-audio.com/Tau_Analyzer_- ... y_Detector). It took a while to analyze the CD, but here's a link to a frequency output. Am I right in thinking (based on a 10 minute internet education) that this is good? I've seen examples of low quality CD tracks and they're a lot "lower". All new to me...

Ordered mine this week along with 'Look at the hits on that' (CD/DVD) which i know is old. Paid £9 for 'Bostin' Steve Austin' and £6 for hits both from hmv.co.uk. Should be here by Monday but i'm not that desperate for it. Neither have i been waiting since 1986 for it. I didn't realise it's never been released on CD! How strange for a 1986 release. Vinyl / Cassette only... Those were the days, not. Ridiculous. I've never owned this album but did own 'Rules and regulations' 4 track 7" i think it was and i loved all the tracks on that and played them to death!

Big Bang! now (unofficially) confirmed! It's on an internal schedule for a March 2013 release - 2CD. Very happy!
Re: Bostin' Steve Austin never appearing on CD... it was advertised as coming out on LP/MC/CD in all the press ads but the CD never went into production. I have no idea why.

Thank you for the spectral view. It appears to be full spectrum! Yay! But now can you give us the standard waveform view to determine if it has been brickwalled in any way?
I asked Cherry Red if they would send me a copy of the CD. I still get freebies now and again from my days of remastering for them. I don't usually get any sort of response other than a surprise package in the mail. I'm hoping to see this in my box soon.

Thanks for all the info.
Does anything on CD2 sound as though it were sourced from vinyl?
Hopefully, CDWow will have 15% off soon, and I'll grab it then. Nice to hear that Big Bang will be coming. Barbarella on CD

I don't think anything has been sourced from vinyl, no. It all sounds great. To be honest I was expecting the debut EP stuff to be from vinyl or something, and I listened closely to XX Sex [7" Version], as that has an acapella intro, and all you can hear is the slightest of sounds of the rest of the band, pensively touching their instruments ready to play... something I've not noticed on the vinyl. However, I always issue a disclaimer at this point - to me, it sounds great... but sometimes, there will be someone who declares there's something not to their taste and that snowballs and it's suddenly a piece of crap. I'm happy! Maybe you wont be.
As for Barbarella being on CD... it has been since 1989! On The International Rescue CD single. Obviously, it'll now be remastered, however.
Oh, and I'll try and post a standard waveform later on...

I care about sound quality, but I don't have a seizure if it isn't 100%, sounds-like-it-is-playing-live-in-my-living-room [8D].
Oops, yeah, forgot that the Big Bang singles were released on CD. They're just hard to get at a reasonable price these days. I do have a 96kbps CD-rip of Barbarella somewhere, leeched during the Napster days.
