Kim Wilde confirmed the longawaited "Close" album reissue on her Twitter profile today.
"Great to hear various Close re-mixes for Mey Mr Heartache, You Came, Never trust a strange, Four Letter Word, Love In A Natural Way", she wrote.
She then went on to confirm the reissue is on its way to fans questioning.
Released in 1988 i.e. exactly 25 years ago, album went on to sell in more than 2 million copies worldwide becoming her best selling album in her entire career ever. It received excellent reviews and made Kim a major artist in her own way.
So now all her albums from the '80s would be reissued. '90s here we come!
Brilliant news!!!

The same team from Cherry Red ? I thought they did a damn fine job of the other reissues.

No. Universal are doing it themselves. This will be Nik Kershaw's Human Racing 2012 reissue, part 2 basically. Hmmm.

I thought the Cherry Red reissues were all very well done as well. Would have been nice if a few of the bonus tracks weren't from vinyl, but at least they sounded ok and CR made it clear those few were sourced from vinyl which is unusual.

I love the singles from "Close" and there were some fantastic remixes for them which I believe are generally found on various CD's (I'm not a Kim Wilde completist by any means so I could be wrong) but it's always nice to have them collected together on 1 or 2 discs.

"You Came" and "Never Trust A Stranger" are 2 of my ultimate favorites from Kim. I hope 1 or 2 of the Shep Pettibone dub mixes for "You Came" make the cut! Certainly not must-have tracks, but would be fun-to-have!

The other Cherry Red reissues were not as good as earlier reissues. Surprise!

Would love this!!! Hopefully, they'll include the Razormaid mixes. Best remixes of "You Came/Stone" and "Never Trust a Stranger"...EVER!!!!

If not <major sigh> I'd settle for the dub mixes. Dubs are important, especially for hardcore fans and DJs!!!

Razormaid mixes won't be allowed due to the licensing agreements with DJ subscription services such as razormaid. Razormaid, Hot tracks & disconet were usually just inferior 'hybrid' mixes of commercially released tracks. Looking forward to this CD set though :)

IS THAT THE TWELVE INCH MIX ? Out late 2010 www.robgrillo.co.uk

Sometimes the label will allow it I've noticed. And now, a lot of the labels do ask for permission first.

It's not actually to do with razormaid giving permission, they can't. The major aspect of their contracts with record labels is that they are able to license the track without making any commercial profit from it. The only razormaid mixes that make it onto commercial releases are those that have been specially commisioned by record companies for release. It's a little different with disconet & hot tracks, but anyway none of these mixes are 'original', merely being hybrids of existing commercial mixes. I've got the razormaid You Came mix and I wouldn't miss it, although I can understand why many would want it on there.
