I think the most comprehensive Human League collection hasn't seen the light of day yet as none of the compilations released so far didn't include all the singles they've issued in their entire career ever.
It's odd that EMI decided to avoid "Heart Like A Wheel" and "Soundtrack To A Generation" off "Romantic?", the very last album they recorded for them released in 1990.
IMO, the most comprehensive singles collection would be looking something like this:

DISC 1:
1. Being Boiled (Fast Product version) (1978)
2. I Don't Depend On You (1979)
3. Empire State Human (1979)
4. Only After Dark (1980)
5. Boys And Girls (1981)
6. The Sound Of The Crowd (1981)
7. Love Action (I Believe In Love) (1981)
8. Open Your Heart (1981)
9. Don't You Want Me (1981)
10. Mirror Man (1982)
11. (Keep Feeling) Fascination (1983)
12. The Lebanon (1984)
13. Life On Your Own (1984)
14. Together In Electric Dreams (Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder) (1984)
15. Louise (1984)

DISC 2:
1. Human (1986)
2. I Need Your Loving (1986)
3. Love Is All That Matters (1988)
4. Heart Like A Wheel (1990)
5. Soundtrack To A Generation (1990)
6. Tell Me When (1995)
7. One Man In My Heart (1995)
8. Filling Up With Heaven (1995)
9. Stay With Me Tonight (1996)
10. All I Ever Wanted (2001)
11. Love Me Madly? (2003)
12. Night People (2010)
13. Never Let Me Go (2011)
14. Sky (2011)

Bonus tracks:
15. Being Boiled (Re-recorded) (1980 & 1982)
16. Good-Bye Bad Times (Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder) (1985)
17. Be My Lover Now (Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder) (1985)
18. Don't You Want Me (1995 remix) (1995)
19. The Things That Dreams Are Made Of (2008 remix) (2008)

Personally the one track I would like to see on CD that has not been on CD before is the Alternate version of Marianne from the austrailian travelogue album. Would be good to have all the peel sessions put together as well
I think this was a missed opportunity for the remixes and rarities album

Not a bad compilation at all.

I think I'll be getting this one.

Wow i was so excited didn't know about this had all kind of thoughts enter my mind until i saw the actual tracklisting. Good tracklistings by you lot (fans). Awful tracklisting by the Record company (as per). BTW discoginfo you missed out 'One man in my heart' 'Don't you want me 1995' (think maybe track 1 was the Snap remix but i'm sure you would know - didn't think it was the Red Jerry mix) and 'Love me madly' as suggested by Sensoria Such a missed opportunity. This is such a mish-mash of stuff in any old order when you read it for the first time you don't know what's coming next. I'll get it as i'm a completist. I have ALL the CD singles and compilations but i honestly can't remember what on here is rare and what isn't. At a guess 'Love is all that matters' (Edit) and 'Soundtrack to a generation' (Edit) stand out to me as the most 'rarest'

Thanks Neil. I have corrected/updated my list accordingly.
I did not include "Love Me Madly" because it was not a single as such. /JW

Thanks Neil! [:)]

@discoginfo: Great tracklisting all the way! But "Love Me Madly?" WAS released as a single, actually. Only in Benelux countries, but was also sold in the U.S. and UK via the Internet. That's what Wikipedia says: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Me_Madly%3F.
Looking at your tracklisting and relying solely on the UK/US single releases, I've noticed I left "Egomaniac" off mine, as it was a European only release.
And what was with the "Marianne" one, BTW?

Sometimes it's hard to define what counts as "single". For example You'll Be Sorry (an excellent song!) was released as a single http://www.discogs.com/Human-League-You ... se/2545239 but only as a promotional single in Canada, but still relatively close to the Secrets album chronologically. Love Me Madly was indeed a single http://www.discogs.com/Human-League-Lov ... ter/212636 but even later (2003) and on another label and only in Holland. So, it's complex. But I added Love Me Madly.

RE: Heart Like A Wheel and Soundtrack To A Generation are on here...

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a more comphrensive and complete 2-CD collection forthcoming from the Demon Music Group...I've queried this and it is something they're looking into.

No, thank you discoginfo and Sensoria! Good discussion. I have the 'Love her madly' CD single. Probably the first CD single i bought off the internet as of course it wasn't available in the shops. I think that i bought it a full 1-2 years after release. I wasn't going to bother due to cost but thought what the hell it's always gonna be worth it's cost at least and that i will never obtain it any other way. Haven't played it for years of course but seem to remember it being quite different to the album version. I was also lucky once to buy a demo cd of three tracks from Secrets and they all sound really different to the final versions. Does anyone (especially discoginfo) know much about this as i've always wondered actually. Some song titles were different too i seem to remember. Think these three tracks / versions pre-date Secrets by at least a year. Certainly sounds like it anyhow

Great track list.

I would also try to include five huge Modern Rock/New Wave/College Rock radio hits as well:

The Things That Dreams Are Made Of
Seconds
Hard Times
Love On The Run
Get It Right This Time

For those of us raised on radio stations like KROQ, etc in the US these tracks were radio staples. Sometimes these stations rejected the record label single and went with an album track, b-side etc that fit more in line with their overall playlist. These five tracks are as essential as the singles.

About SECRET demos, this is the best link I could find http://grooveshark.com/#!/album/New+Sta ... os/6864989
seems you can't purchase or download, only listen.

Yes certainly radio stations all over the world have been playing different songs, and every fan has their own favs. It would also be interesting to know what tracks the group themselves had planned as singles. A way to please eevrybody would be to offer "custom made" printed CDs, you select the tracks and versions you want, and you will be notified when the CD is full, then you will also get a customized booklet. /JW

Oh, so sorry to overlook them. So taking from the tracklisting it really is the most comprehensive Human League collection yet, EMI-wise, of course. Not having these two singles on would be a total crime.
Most of the artist 2CD/3CD compilations by Demon Music Group are excellent.
