R.E.M.'s sixth studio album receives the 25th anniversary deluxe treatment in a new 2CD edition on May 14th.
Album will also be available with original art and packing on 180-gram vinyl.
Album was originally released in November 1988. It was the band's debut major label album for Warner Bros. Records. It reached #12 in the US and #27 in the UK, and spawned four singles: "Orange Crush", "Stand", "Pop Song 89" and "Get Up".

As march on towards the Warner Brothers years, the band has seemingly forgotten a whole slew of IRS tracks still waiting to be remastered and reissued.

So tell us, REM, why aren't we getting an expanded 2-CD set of Dead Letter Office?

Seems to me a perfect opportunity to finish off the series as most likely all the extras could fit on 2-CDs.

Disc 1: Dead Letter Office + Chronic Town EP + Romance + extras
Disc 2: Remaining tracks not appearing on Dead Letter Office + remixes + unreleased demos (Stephen Hague version of Catapult, etc) or the Fan Club stuff

Will we ever get this?

There's a Stephen Hague version of Radio Free Europe?!? I'd love to hear that.

Yes, I would like to hear a Stephen Hague version of "Radio Free Europe" too, as I haven't heard it yet either.
I think we should contact the band or labels to find out why we haven't gotten all these stuff you've mentioned, roc51, yet. Maybe they'll release it separately on a rarities compilation one day. Who knows?

Yes we need a DLO deluxe edition. They went on a straight downward trajectory across their career. The Chronic Town EP is easily their best work.
