Random MP3s on the horizon

Random MP3s on the horizon

I know, we all prefer CDs. But I was trolling Amazon and found that the 2nd Roman Holliday album, Fire Me Up (with "One Foot Back In Your Door") will be available from Amazon MP3 on September 3. This is where they became a random, cheesy rock band but I still kinda like the single.

But what made me really happy was also seeing that No Stranger To Danger by The Payola$ will be available as a download on October 15. Again, I'd rather have a CD since none of their albums have ever been released, but this will at least suffice until reissues happen (if ever). I have the vinyl of their albums but I have no time to transfer to disc.

Anybody else find some interesting nuggets like this?

OK, dug in a little more and the label is RDEG, which also says "Rocshire" which I believe is the from the ashes of Renaissance. So, not sure of the quality on these, but was very excited when I did a label search in "Advanced search" on Amazon and found these:

Suzy Andrews - December 3 (I have this on pink vinyl - "interesting" covers of "Der Kommissar" and "Da Da Da")
OXO - November 12
Minor Detail - July 30 (finally!)
I Am Siam - July 9

And more from The Producers, Spoons, Strange Advance, and lots of other stuff. Linkage:

Ooooh, NICE! Finally Minor Detail - it's about time! Now they just need to release Private Lives #8206;– Prejudice And Pride and that would be too cool!!!

The Private Lives album certainly needs to be on cd. Was glad to see Roman Holliday on Amazon. A cd (remastered version ) would be very welcome .

Minor Detail?!? No freaking way!! I bought that LP 3-4 times to find the cleanest version available. I love my vinyl rip but boy that would sound great on CD.

If the company's related to Renaissance I just hope they don't botch it like they did the Vitamin Z disc (with the bizarre digital fade outs on each track).

I should amend my post - it is Renaissance. RDEG stands for Renaissance Digital Entertainment Group. Website says they are now a digital-only label (with a few exceptions).

Better than nothing, I guess. CD's would be great but obviously this is a much more tenable business model. And it'll be great to have some of these old classics available. My point stands on Renaissance's remastering, though the Vitamin Z disc was the only one that I had those funky fadeouts.

Of course there's many hidden things out there now on I tunes. Depends who you are into of course. Some rare I Tunes only tracks / mixes available for Gary Numan / Madness / Pet shop boys etc but far too many to mention. I'll come back if i think of more. The main rarish Numan track is a (he double clicks I tunes)... My dying machine (instrumental version) at 6.22. Also Caroline Munro's version of his album track Pump it up titled Pump me up 2 mixes on i tunes unreleased on CD i think possibly! Also an Enigma remix album and some further tracks scattered here and there. Also there was an A-ha and the Oslo Philharmonic orchestra concert appeared a few weeks after it took place Hunting live and low (Live at the Royal Albert Hall). 10 tracks. I was there. They also did Scoundrel Days but i kept checking and that never appeared. Found it strange that the Hunting high and low gig appeared for such a short while never understood that. I was very lucky to find it

Thanks for the link. It's nice to see Charlie back catalogue available as MP3s.
