This "new" disc by Blancmange will be issued formally in February 2014 by Cherry Red.
Currently only available from the band at their UK & Ireland gigs, the demand is such that Cherry Red will give it a formal release next year.

I think I can live without a brickwalled rerecording of an 80s album.

Shame that the Happy Families album don't get a proper reissue (expanded 2-disc) instead of the hatchet job Edsel did a few years ago. I for myself am not waiting for so called "new versions" of songs from that album and I wonder who does. Been a fan since the early 80s.
This album can be reissued in a great way... if only.

I'm lucky enough to have this, after having attended the first date of their current tour. It's actually a really good re-recording and worth every penny. I wonder if there will be a remix or two on the cherry red version as I gather some of the 'new' tracks have been remixed by the likes of Vince Clarke.
IS THAT THE TWELVE INCH MIX ? Out late 2010

Well apparently the Cherry Red version is being issued as a deluxe edition with a bonus disc of remixes (including the Vince Clarke one)

Really enjoyed the recent show that I saw and I'm impressed by 'Happy Families Too...' also. Great merchandise at the shows as well.
Free download of 'Feel Me (Greg Wilson & Derek Kaye Remix)' from the deluxe edition below:

Really looking forward to getting my hands on his - the remixes are great.
On a side not, does anyone know what the health issues are that prevent Stephen Luscombe from participating in this re-activity ?

I was wondering if the version of Waves is the correct album version, because a few years ago, Edsel used the single version on that one with their Blancmange reissues.

these are completely redone and new versions of all the songs.
you will have to go back to an earlier release to get it.
i'm looking forward to this.

ok, i finally heard all these tracks.
some are very good. others are ok.
this is my least favorite album from them.
basically, it's a remix album. every track
is updated and sounds like a current version
with new sounds and familiar ones too.
if you liked the original you might like some
of the new tracks. but if you're a purist you
will not like the new takes on them.
will be getting the full cd later, but we have
heard most of the extra new mixes already too.

heard the other 2 mixes by KOMPUTER on this.
14 Cruel (Komputer Remix) 7:38
15 God's Kitchen (Komputer Remix) 5:37
cruel is a very slow, ambient like mix, not that great.
god's kitchen is much better and worth hearing.
interesting to hear all these new versions of the songs.
wonder if they will do other albums like this.
