----------
A-ha kick off their 30th anniversary celebrations late in May with vinyl reissues of their first two albums Hunting High and Low (1985) and Scoundrel Days (1986).

These have been remastered by Ron McMaster at Capitol Studios and are pressed on 180gm black vinyl. Both releases will include a download code for an MP3 versions of the album.

For those that want to get a better pressing, or updated quality.

Will be looking at the first album only.

scoundrel days was a huge letdown.
the single 'i've been losing you' was terrible, so was 'cry wolf',
and 'manhattan skyline' was a bizarre clash of rock with something.

if they wanted to be a rock band, they failed miserably.

the rest of the album was equally dire, which is why they went back to the
synth sound on the next album.

i know abc went rock, on their second album, but the public didnt like it either,
however i found it decent.

a-ha should stick to what they are good at. bubblegum synth-pop.

interesting view - personally I enjoy the album. Have to agree on Cry Wolf (not terrible for me, but rather weak), never understood why that was chosen as a single + still to this day don't understand why they didn't favour the titletrack Scoundrel Days instead... but all in all, for me it is a good + still enjoyable album.

With all this vinyl talk though, I wonder when there'll finally be news on the deluxe editions on cd - to me way more important...

what makes you think it is?
give examples, instead of stating 'its great'.

I like it too and love the 12 inch single of Cry Wolf. Actually all the extended remixes that I've heard are 'great.'

its hard for them to be great, when the originals are so weak.

also, they really didn't do much to the mixes, they are just plain extended versions.

the mixes for 'the sun always shines on TV', and 'train of thought', are Classic all time greats.
the different versions of 'take on me' were kind of weak, and still are. they could have done a lot more with it.

the mix of 'hunting high and low' is one of my all time favorite masterpieces from them.

nothing that they remixed from later albums were this good.

Hunting High and Low was indeed a great album....wasn't keen on the follow up at all tho.....the 3rd album had its moments but still failed to match the quality of the 1st album.........after that....well nothing more to add.
