Propaganda question

Propaganda question

Postby humanracer » Sat Jul 18, 2015 10:08 pm

If I were to buy Secret Wish (Deluxe), Wishful Thinking (Deluxe) and Noise and Girls (best of),

1. Would this give me everything released by Propaganda between 84-85? In other words, is there anything on Outside World and other releases that isn't on the above three CDs?

2. Is there anything by Propaganda that hasn't been released on CD yet?

Thank you

Robert

I think there are three tracks that are on the Outside World (2002) compilation which are not on the Salvo reissues:

- The Lesson
- Duel (Bittersweet)
- Das Testament Des Dr. Mabuse (Promo Version)

Frozen Faces (12 inch version) is a track that's on Complete Machinery which is a track from the Art of the 12" volume 3.

I wonder what happened to the 30th anniversary boxset of A Secret Wish?! Salvo's website talked about this earlier.
Anybody have any news?

I couldn't really care less about a Secret Wish box set as their back catalogue has been milked to death now. What i do want is a deluxe version of 1234 which seems to have been forgotten about.

Is the 12" mix of Frozen Faces from Complete Machinery not the same as the version of Outside World? If so then it just means I have to get four tracks from OW.

And yes there does seem to be quite a lot of mixes and releases for what amounts to a handful of songs written for one album. They weren't very prolific.

If I remember right 1234 was not released by ZTT and without Brucken I guess it has little appeal to most fans.

The 12" mix of Frozen Faces from Complete Machinery is the same version as Outside World, but as a part of Complete Machinery that is. If you have a program like WavePad Sound Editor, you can easily extract that version from the 20-minute Complete Machinery version on Art of the 12" Volume 3. But, to my knowledge, Frozen Faces 12" version was never on CD since the Outside World compilation. Salvo didn't bother to get that track released separately on a Propaganda reissue since.

Also i noticed Complete Machinery on Outside World was edited to 11 min. whereas on The Art Of The 12" (3) it's the 19.02 min. version.

Is Complete Machinery good quality or a needle drop?

It can't be a needle drop as it's from the cassette http://www.discogs.com/Propaganda-Compl ... ase/426144 It sounds fine on The Art Of The 12", Volume Three though avoid the shorter version on the Repertoire Outside World as it sounds terrible and is full of tape hiss.

I would love to get 1234 expanded. Even better if they added videos. I really love "Heaven Give Me Words". Betsi looks great in it. They could easily do this by making CD1 enhanced, thus isolating the original album, while padding out the rest of the space with a data track.

Back to the original post, I would get "Outside World" over "Noise and Girls". "Duel (Bitter Sweet)" is a worthwhile mix, whereas the unique stuff on "Noise and Girls" are leftover/outtakes sounding, in my opinion.

Suzanne & Michael from Propaganda released Valley Of The Machine Gods (ep) back in 2005. I wonder how many songs were recorded during that period and would love to hear more.
