Killing Joke re issue of 'Killing Joke' 2003 album

Killing Joke re issue of 'Killing Joke' 2003 album

Postby Bullion » Sun Mar 06, 2022 3:26 pm

The 2003 'Killing Joke' album has been re-released. Their very first album from 1980 was also just called 'Killing Joke'. The 2003 release was the band's 11th studio album.

The 2003 album had Dave Ghrol on drums. Killing Joke were considering legal action against Nirvana , on the basis that 'Come As You Are ' from 1991 was rather too close to their track 'Eighties' . Dave Ghrol allegedly did not request any fee for playing on the 2003 album.
The 2003 album came out at the time of the invasion of Iraq, and was a blistering attack on George Bush and the US foreign policy at the time. There are some great tracks -
'Death and Resurrection Show', 'The House That Pain Built', and 'Dark Forces' .

Good. I hope there's a CD of that too. I never saw a copy and it's going for big double digits.

I've heard a lot of good things about this 2003 album... I must admit that I got stuck after the powerful and angry "Extremities, Dirt And Various Repressed Emotions" from 1990.
It's a far cry from my favourite song of the band "A Southern Sky"...
I got a taste of the band again with "Absolute Dissent".
This re-release does not leave me indifferent.

Yes I will go looking for a new copy, bought it when it came out but tend to lose CDs over the course of time. And not sure where this one went.
Not sure what my favourite Killing Joke release is. 'Revelations' was a great favourite of mine back in the day, also 'Pandemonium' , and more recently 'Pylon'. One of my favourite all time tracks is 'Euphoria' , from 'Pylon'.
