€149,99 is a lot of money for such a boxset. But well, Alphaville always seems to be expensive, when it comes to boxset releases.

The vinyl version contains three more tracks, the F-side, than the cd version.

Big in Japan here:
https://www.deezer.com/ru/album/308488787

Marian wanted it to sound like Wagner??? Complete flop, to my ears. Symphonic versions are good for rockers (Deep Purple started that strange tradition in 1970), not for synth poppers. Midge Ure with his Ultravox reworkings and Rational Youth proved it already. Why step into the same sh*t??

Interesting to hear your opinion.

I, for one, thought the what Midge managed to achieve there with Orchestrated has been absolutely amazing.

Agree with you on the Midge Ure Orchestrated album, simply stunning, has to be one of the best orchestrated collections ever released.

Will a string quartet do?

yeah, heard this, and even a crazier version of samba+Kraftwerk, do not remember that band name now))).

BTW, the full album is available now, at least via Deezer:

Ah, you are referring to Sr. Coconut!
Image
I enjoy that one too, but my preference is with the Balanescu Quartet, who along with Elektric Music, got me through the Kraftwerk drought of the 90s!

When I first listened to this album I couldn't stop laughing, it is crazy yet brilliant.

No argument there from me. It's a lot of fun hearing the fabric of Kraftwerk stretched to distant paces.

After hearing this one, I think its very tastefully done.

Some versions are really quite surprising, like Dance With Me......takes the track in a totally new direction and adds another dimension to its beauty.

Gave it a few listens, trying to find something really amusing. no. my final verdict - KARAOKE. really tasteful is orchestration, I would agree. nothing else. back vocals are added from original master tapes, and Marian - sorrowfully - sounds like a visitor to a karaoke club, after a couple of vodka shots copying his favorite artists and tracks.
Good attempt though. Will not be erased from the hard drive))
