RIP Yukihiro Takahashi (Yellow Magic Orchestra)

2023 has started off with a series of blows to the industry. Yukihiro died Jan.14th from brain cancer and was the lead vocalist and drummer from YMO (Yellow Magic Orchestra). Ryuichi Sakamoto also from YMO is fighting cancer too. What the hell is happening ????

Time has come for our childhood idols to pass away, and it is disturbing. Even more disturbing is to understand, that we are the next.........

So sad. I just discovered YMO within the last year (IIRC I think Paolo put Drip Dry Eyes on one of his fantastic compilations). Love them and all of his solo stuff.

Yeah, it is a bit weird to get older and watch your fave artists pass on. Given that the artists discussed here are from the late 70's and 80's, many/most of them are now in their 70's and 80's. YMO's first album came out in 1978...a long time ago. That the individual artists are still making relevant music all these years later speaks to their lifelong dedication, creativity, and drive. RIP.
