12" extended VOCAL versions that should've existed

2 that will always baffle me as to why a 12" extended VOCAL version never existed commercially were for the songs:
ABC - The Look Of Love
and
Human League - Don't You Want Me
I know DJ Remix Services had their own extended vocal versions and there may have been updated extended vocal versions from the late 80's or 90's.
Does anybody know why these 2 songs only had extended dub versions available for their initial release to purchase in stores and not extended vocal versions?
Also, does anybody else have others that are glaring examples?

Interesting topic, I've been going over this myself recently. Other songs I find baffling that no extended vocal mix existed include:
Tainted Love by Soft Cell
I Melt With You by Modern English
Should I Stay Or Should I Go by The Clash
How Soon Is N

Blaster - Have a look, but I doubt it.
As I stated there may have been an updated extended vocal version but not from 1982.
jfiber - some good examples although How Soon Is Now is close to 7 minutes.

This thought has actually crossed my mind before. A few that I can think of that I wish would have gotten the extended treatment (excluding later mixes/remakes):
Icehouse - We Can Get Together
Midnight Oil - Read About It
Minor Detail - Canvas of Lif

The 12" I have for Look of Love is
Side 1 - The Look Of Love (USA remix - Dub Version) 7:37
Side 2 - The Look Of Love (Part 3 - Dance Version) 4:17
Not what you would call Extended Vocal. I had to listen to it to remember that you're right.

MikeP - There was a 12" for Flaming Desire with a running time of 6:22. Was this a dub?

There was a really bizarre remix of "Mexican Radio" on the b-side of the 12 Inch Single. It wasn't what I'd call GOOD - but it's very different. But there wasn't a proper dance remix of it. Le sigh...

Mike:
I have a 12" of Minor Detail - Canvas Of Life. It has 3 versions on it, "Vocal" & "instrumental" on one side, & "Extended Version" on the Other.

Blaster,
Any chance you have the extended version in MP3 form.[:D] Very interesting ... I thought there was only a promo 12" single with the album version on it.

That description sounds like the Extended 12" I was also referring to earlier in this thread, that I have, (I haven't yet had time to comb thru the vinyl), but I don't remember mine being German, but it's possible....
