Princeton Record Exchange

I was stuck between two destinations yesterday in Princeton NJ. I didn't even think to check out the exchange until a tremendously well-timed message from Waukena reminded me of it. I walked out of there in nauseously dizzy after oggling stacks upon stacks of used vinyl, CDs and DVDs for 3 hours!

On the whole, I noticed that it's a great place to fill out your back catalog of standards - you could pretty much find every used CD of things like The Clash, New Order, Cure, and a lot of modern bands. But I was dissapointed in their selection of rarities - I found it weak on funky singles, out of prints, etc. I guess it IS still central Jersey. The prices weren't exactly low either. Last peeve was that New and Used stuff are often mixed together.

Having said that, if you're ever around there, it's a must-visit, and the main strip in Princeton is a great quaint place to just walk around. I did manage to pick up the following:

Goldfrapp - Strict Machine extended CDS, $6
Saint Etienne - some 1990-2005 comp, $9
Badly Drawn Boy - their 2004 release, I forget the name, $9
New Order - Retro box with the 5th bonus CD - $30
Smallville - Seasons 1, 2 & 3 DVD boxes, $24 each, ouch

sigh. I miss that place. I've only been there once, but the station I liked back then (WPRB) probably got most of their stash from there.
