When Rap and New Wave collided.

What about the Clash and Futura 2000!?

What a great tune that was.

I mentioned EBN OZN's "AEIOU Sometimes Y" on the NNNW board yesterday. I'm surprised at some of the hip/hop elements there. Not just the fact most of the song is spoken.

These guys also must be given props for their deft use of samples (especially cinema sound bytes in their tunes)[8D]

Hmmm...

Never would have thought to put "Puttin' On The Ritz" by Taco in the Rap category.

More like "One hit wonder bad cover novelty song with gimmicky voice filter sung with all the emotion of someone in a coma" category.

I think you just insulted Rappers everywhere.

If love's the truth then look no lies
Let me swim around your eyes
I found a place I'll never leave
Shook my mouth in disbelief
If love is the truth, I realized
Not a pretty sight
To use us up
And waste our time

ok, kinda doesn't count because it just came out a couple years ago but Afrika Bambaataa & Gary Numan did a remake of Numan's "Metal". It's a really great track with MC Chatterbox rapping on it towards the end.

[Crimsor]

Kirsty Maccoll - Walking Down Madison
Kon Kan - Puss N' Boots/These Boots (Are Made For Walkin')
Sinead O'Connor - I Want Your Hands on Me (the version with MC Lyte)

Check out "Carmen" by Malcolm McLaren for a cool collision of new wave, rap and opera!
