Greatest Irish Band

New Wave/Punk music, culture, genres, memories. '80s revivalism and other relevant topics.

What about the Radiators from Outer Space? Those guys were great. Their first album was pure fast power pop. They later mutated their sound to a more new-wavey feel that was equally great. A member of the Pogues fronted this band (did anyone even mention the Pogues for greatest Irish band?). Their greatest hits, Cockels and Shells is highly recommended. I have it if anyones asking...

I'll second the vote for the Radiators! Television Screen is amazing!

For me, it will always be The Adventures. So, I guess that's a write-in vote.

And Starjets! Thanks for reminding me of them (goes to listen to "Schooldays").

There was an Australian band called 'The Radiators'...back in the early to mid 70's!!! [?] They were fantastic. Biggest hit here was a song called 'room full of mirrors...or was it diamonds?. Oh how the memory fades [:I]'!

The Outcasts were quite good too (for awhile, until the ugly face of hardcore hit 'em). Many great bands were on the Good Vibrations label. They have a few comps out on CD that are worth a look!

I don't think that Paul Hewson and his gahnormous ego could even make that claim.

If it's open, I say Thin Lizzy! But if we're sticking to New Wave, I say Psychadelic Furs.

Agreed. The "Psychadelic Furs" are the greatest band ever to come out of London, Ireland.
