Anybody like these guys? I've only seen a brief mention of them here on NWO. They're more rock 'n roll bar band than new wave, but I hear a clear similarity to new wave artists like Rockpile/Nick Lowe/Dave Edmunds, The Blasters, Elvis Costello, and even the cowpunk artists like Rank and File. I've never really gotten into them (despite an old roommate who was nuts for them), but I'm willing to give them another listen. Evidently lots of pop and rock musicians cite them as influences (Keith Richards, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, Lou Reed, among others). So if they're so influential and they sound so similar to some rockabilly/roots-rock type new wave bands, where do they fit into the new wave scheme of things, if at all? Is their main disqualification mostly that they came out a decade too soon? Are they proto-new wave?

I know they did a good version of "Me and the Boys"by Dave Edmunds,or maybe Dave Edmunds did their version?
They were a staple on the new england scene for much of the 70's and into the 80's since I think they were from R.I.Saw them once at Tufts University , I'd have to say they're mainly a roots rock band and thats about it.

Yeah, I'm thinking that they're probably just too far outside the new wave radius to be related. Thanks.

I've got one of their songs, "A Little Bit Of Bad", on a Rhino comp. Good song, I think it's my favorite on that particular disk.
