I used to sing an old ZZ Top tune just to annoy my future ex...
"Give me all your washing...all your rugs and dishes too." She hated cleaning so whenever she started I'd sing this quite loud to encourage her (yeah right).

The music you listen to is the soundtrack of your life.

Some of the kids in my old neighborhood changed the lyrics to "What A Feeling" from Fame...

Take your pants down...
And make it happen!

heh!
Glad we're not the only ones who do this. We do this all the time, with all KINDS of lyrics. Mr. KYYX is especially skilled at it. We always manage to crack each other up. And naturally, the dogs are the main inspiration and audience:

Feeeed the Laaabs
Let them know it's dinnertime!("Feed the World" by Band Aid)
and
I am Laaab and I want to be fed
Just like every other dog does...
and the ever-popular
...and I fetched
I fetched so far awaaay
I just fetched
I couldn't get away...

I love your guys' examples!

I've seen these two passed 'round the industrial music boards:

Front 242's "Headhunter"

One you SHOP at Target
Two, you WAIT in line
Three, you slowly spread the WALLET
and four, you PAY THE MAN

and Nitzer Ebb's "Murderous"

SHOP, DONUT SHOP
SHOP, DONUT SHOP

As a child my daughter had a favorite doll named Bonny Blue whom I would serenade to the tune of A House - Call Me Blue.

In high school, there was a guy who changed "Rock Me Amadeus" to "Rock Me Hot Potatos." It didn't make any sense, but in that part in the song where he sings Amadeua about 50 times, it's pretty fun to sing "hot potatos" instead.

Speaking of potatos, they also show up in our version of the Pearl Jam song "Betterman":

"This potato's awfully dry, can't find the butter, man."

There's a bunch more, but it's too early in the morning for me to remember them all.

Like KYYX4, my significant otter and I do this constantly, with almost every song.

I was sitting on the couch late Sunday afternoon flipping between the Patriots and last Sox game when I just started singing "I was happy on the couch and drinking several beers, but heaven knows I've got to pee now."

I sing a couple of songs to my kids w/ substituted lyrics:

Echo and the Bunnymen - Rescue

instead of "...is this the blues I'm singing..." I belt out:

"Is this the brock-man singing..." Usually happens when we're in the car. Wife rolls her eyes; kids demand a different cd.

Then there's The Hustle by Van McCoy. Occurs when I'm getting the kids in their car seats.

instead of "do the hustle" I sing "do the buckle" and then start in on the whistling part of the song.
Yeah, I know. TMI[:I]

Just last night, I was putting jammies on my very wiggly almost one-year-old. This involves several WWF-like wrestling moves and at one point I had him dangling by one ankle while I snapped one of the numerous snaps. When I finally finished, without even thinking about this thread, I started singing to the tune of "Dead Man's Party"

He's all dressed up and ready for bed
Doo doot doot
Doo doot doot
Doo doo doot doot!
Walkin' with a baby over my shoulder...

Then I remembered this thread, laughed out loud, and wondered why I hadn't thought of it yesterday, because I sing this ditty pretty much every time I get the little guy dressed.

Not a new wave song, but I just caught myself singing The White Stripes' "My Doorbell" to my dog, as follows:

"I'm thining 'bout my puppy
Am I gonna pet her?
Am I gonna pet her?"
