Dreadful? Not to my ears - Fiction Factory's second album in my list of all time favorites..."Time is Right", "Not the Only One", "Standing At The Top Of The World", "Let Me Be A Part" and "No Time" are great tracks. Very Hard to get CD, sells for big $$.

Not The Only One: easily my favorite Fiction Factory song. DJ Wave and I should have been closer together in Blir's poll, she exudes excellent musical taste.

Dan, stick to your principles and not download this. By doing so, you would tread on other's intellectual property without their express written consent. You don't want a lawsuit on your hands, and after all, you've risked enough lately.

The Dream Academy deserved more credit. They only had one hit "Life in a Northern Town" and "The Love Parade" got a few airplay, both from their first album. I wish their third album was more popular, because i think it was the best by them. "Gaby Says", "The Forest Fire", the cover version of "Love", "Twelve-Eight Angel".
They also released some covers like "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" and "Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime".

For me Modern English. Although im not aware of their songs that made it to the charts, they have lots of great stuff.

Spinning Me Round
Someones Calling
Blue Wave
Hands Across The Sea

In the Philippines, the radio hit of this band is Melt With You. Filipinos should listen to their other songs. [:)]

I chose Blancmange, although Modern English was a close second....I really worshipped those first two Blancmange records (each record had about 4-5 singles pulled off of them, so I don't know where that stands with album filler vs single material).......'Waves' should have been a bigger hit.....

Waves is my favorite, the goose bumps factor usually gets me...

These are all pretty dire choices--novelty acts and shallow repetoires. I didn't like A-Ha's hit, COE has been overplayed to the gills (but I like "Geno"), Q-Feel deserved to be a one-hit-wonder, the Dream Academy were dirty, dirty hippies, Murray Head wasn't even a pop singer. If I had to choose, it would be Blancmange.

Write in: M (of Pop Muzik fame). He had a few other tunes that were okay, better than a lot of songs that made it as hits.

Went with DOA, just on the strength of Youthquake alone. It's a cd you can put on and walk away no worry about skipping any songs.

The way I look at these artists is not so much "One Hit Wonders" but songs that were embedded in peoples minds as the only song they know by that artist. That one song that people play over and over and over, until you want to throw the Record/CD at them and say...here, now listen to this.

That is exactly what I do on one of my weekly shows...hoping that I don't hear "Dancing in Heaven" a gazillion times.

Every few months one show is themed "So You Think They Were A One Hit Wonder!" This show exposes other great tunes by artists you thought only had the one song.

So far the show has people selecting other songs. Now instead of "Dancing in Heaven" every few days...I hear "Time Waits For No One". IMHO if it wasn't for the movie "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" Q-Feel may have never been a One Hit Wonder.

I feel honored that Eight6 said I have good taste, since he sets the bar pretty high...does this mean we can share a nut sack. [:D]

Actually, having discovered Collapsing New People recently... the guy that made me listen to it told me it was the closest thing to a hit that Fad Gadget had.
The other songs (that I'm getting to know that) are also very good.

Not from the 80s but from the 90s... New radicals' "You only get what you give" was the only hit extracted from that first and only album but the entire album was good.
