i was just curious if anyone has any songs that you had heard and really liked from soundtracks that you were never able to track down for one reason or another.

purple rain. for me it started when i seen purple rain when it came out and i loved the modernaire song and spent years trying to find it just to find out the band the modernaires never actually released anything at all.
and just maybe in the last year i finally found that song on a very limited cd release.

tapeheads. i just got the song mr. mx-7 by stiv bators and the zeroes thanks to ollie.

silence of the lambs. i spent years looking for the song goodbye horses by q lazzarus, i had hunted and tracked down every song i didnt recognize in the film credits trying to find out what it was.
just to get to the last song on the list which i could not find.
then i found out it was only available on the married to the mob soundtrack.
now its in the new jay and silent bob film and all these goofy kids love it and its everywhere.

eddie and the cruisers. there an instrumental track they play alot in the film during dramatic parts that i really like and i have still never been able to find it.

berry gordys last dragon.yeah goofy film but the cyndi lauperish goofy girl character has a few songs i actually thought were kind of goofy cool.and although the girl faith prince is actually a singer and has released stuff and the film is done by berry gordy and motown, still it seems those songs have never actually been released in any way.

ladise and gentlemen the fabulous stains.this little cult film which i think in itself has never actually been released has a few songs i like.its mainly the song join the professionals, the song is by a band named the professionals and was written by steve jones of the sex pistols and this was one of his bands, he also is in the band in the film.
the thing is in the film the actor playing the singer does vocals and i think it was actually alot tougher sounding then the actual bands song.
also in the filmed a few years after the rest of the films new ending it has the girls band the stains doing a very catchy poppy go gos sounding version of the song.
as i said i dont think the film has ever been released officially much less the soundtrack.

thats all that comes to mind at the moment.

I loved the "live band" performance in Summer of Sam. The song was called "Hello from the gutter." I searched & searched around for it - nothing!

"Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" by Dream Academy. From Ferris Bueller's Day Off (I don't recall it being readily available until Sedated in the Eighties included it some years back. There was no soundtrack for Ferris Bueller's released.)

"Brazil" Kate Bush (supposed to be for soundtrack of film, "Brazil" but never used, and still not released)

"The Magician" Kate Bush (I think the movie had the same name?)

"It Might Hurt A Bit" Tori Amos and Mike Stipe (Don Jaun Demarco--but was never used for the film and never released)
