Good CRANK Music

Postby MARV » Thu Dec 21, 2006 1:47 am

Any suggestions for music that must be CRANKED for maximum appreciation? It simply cannot be listened to at low volumes.

Right now, I'm going with Dani California, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

If limiting to new wave, I've hurt myself with some of these...

Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Born to Run cover
The Jam - In the City
The Clash - I Fought the Law
U2 - I Will Follow
The Chameleons - Up the Down Escalator
The Alarm - Rain in the Summertime

But I've probably lost the most hearing to the Smashing Pumpkins over the years...Mayonaisse, Stand Inside Your Love, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Cherub Rock, Starla, and the huge buildup at the end of Window Paine, etc.

The entire Catherine Wheel Chrome CD is best played loud. Love it.

Years ago I made a mixed tape called the Stairmaster Mix which featured:
Ladykiller - Vandals
There's a Barbarian in the Back of my Car - Voice of the Beehive
Middle of the Road - Pretenders
Motorcrash - Sugarcubes
Get it on - Woodentops
Your Phone's off the Hook but you're not - X

I'd crank up the volume, crank up the exercise level and have a helluva workout.

The two that come to mind immediately for me are Change by Killing Joke and Up The Down Escalator by Chameleons UK.
The answer to this post is always going to be a matter of personal preference, I think
